Sexual morality
(1/1)
CrossoverManiac:
I have a question to you concerning sexual morality. I once believed the teachings of the church concerning sexual morality. But as time went on and I studied more on the subject, I wonder if the doctrines about sex was wrong. I heard about the Song of Solomon and that some of the Scripture was mistranslated and lead to our current belief in sexuality. I have even heard things like the doctrines concerning sexuality of the early church was based on the Bible but on the Greek philosophy of Stoicism. And that's just some of the things I've heard of. So, how much of it is true and how much of it is a lie?

Dear Matthew:
"Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman hve her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife DUE BENEVOLENCE [affection--sexual]: and likewise also the wife unto the husband" (I Cor. 7:1-3). And what will this void then? Fornication. Sex in marriage is NOT FORNICATION [fornication is 'pornea' and it means 'immorality'--hence, sex is not immoral in marriage].
In I Cor. 7:5 -9 Paul teaches that one "defrauds" if he does not allow his/her mate to have sexual relations to satisfy the sex drive within them. The phrase "come together" means "sexual cohabitation." Likewise it is better to marry and have a mate than to be single if one cannot control their burning passion (Verse 9).
God be with you,
Ray
