worm:
oh...I believe there is a good one in Matthew already:

Matthew 19:25 The disciples were astounded. "Then who in the world can be saved?" they asked.
26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, "Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible." :D

JesusOnly:
That sounds like a good study, Origen.

Upon reading this thread, I decided to read the first chapter of Matt.

verse 21 reads:

And she shall bring forth a  son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus (savior) for he shall save his people from their sins.

Jesus was commissioned to save "his" people and I'm going to assume that this has been/will be fulfilled in God's due time.

Paul probably saw a problem with stubborn unbelieving Isrealites, and IF taking this scripture universally about his own people, the Jews, then something didn't add up.  It's probably the reason he recieved revelation knowledge about an "elect", and those "blinded in part" for a season, and  realized there is a plan in God's time concerning his son being the savior of all.

shibboleth:
Here's a scripture from Matthew that confirmed UR for me.

Matthew 13:4o-43 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be in the end of the world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Can you see it? The tares are gathered and burned; then those of his kingdom are burned. I like the wailing and gnashing of teeth because this is talking about our cleansing in the Lord, not forever punishment. Verse 43 nails it on the head. After all this burning we all enter the kingdom.
