Food Banks
bluzman:
Since food banks seem to be operated by church groups, should one ask them for charity?
Does any have scripture on this?
Thanks, Ches

Rom 14:1-4 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
1 Cor 10:26-31 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, EAT, asking no question for conscience sake. But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
If you are in need, and they are giving, take it and give all glory to God...The Lord is leading us away from the church's spiritual leaven [Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees...(Matt 16:6)], that is what is of the utmost importance, as the physical is only temporary and the spiritual is eternal [1 Cor 15:46].
Hope this helps,
Marques
bluzman:
Thank you Marques for the Scripture. I have always found Paul's wording difficult. It is only through the perspective
of someone like Ray or yourself that I can see what he is saying more fully.
I am from a large family, six brothers and three sisters. They are all church goers and are financially in the black
so to speak. I am sure they think that I am a weirdo and perhaps lost and forsaken of God.
The past seventeen months or so have been very heavy on my shoulders. I am not complaining as I understand that
all is of God. I feel for the Brothers and Sisters who are in pain or are ill, heart broken, especially the little children.
Should I not get some work soon, I'm afraid that I will have to go to one of the food banks. I have worked hard
ever since I was a young man, so believe me, going there won't be easy. Giving is a better part of my nature.
The Food and Drink that I am receiving from God amazes me, and I ask, why me?
By the Grace of God I was dragged out of Babylon so that I might live. Going back there for physical food somehow
hits the wrong note for me.
Being here I understand that I am very spiritually wealthy, and not confined to this little island I'm on.
In His Name, Bluzman

awesome testimony bluzman. i pray that our Father's mercy will engulf you and that He will bring you through this desert to His Oasis. i pray that He is right now causing circumstances to come about that will lead you to employment. He is using this time to mold you and encourage your faith in Him alone.

Bluzman, I'm as guilty as you of exactly the same kind of reasoning. So, excuse me as I reach around this plank in my eye, here, to help you with that little splinter in yours...
You need to drop at least this part of your reason. It is of the flesh, aka Pride. Swallow your pride, but only to spit it out. God knows what you need, physically and spiritually. I see only dimly, as through a dark glass, but could it be He's using this circumstance to accomplish exactly that? It's certainly possible. If so, I've found it's better to give in to God quickly, take my licks, and move on.
