Fire?
« on: August 09, 2009, 11:47:48 AM »

How is it that ghenna fire is the lake of fire and the valley of hinnom when one is unquenchable and the other has been quenched?

Dear Maureen:  If you read enough of my material to understand how to ask a question regarding it, you probably also read the answer to your same question, but missed it.  All of these things are physical material things which depict spiritual truths.  No physical symbol (be it, a tree, forest, water, a wine press, sword, horse, sun, moon, temple, city, or FIRE) symbolizes what the symbol itself is.  Therefore it is meaningless to try and compare physical with physical, when we are specifically told to compare spiritual with spiritual (I Cor. 3:12-14).

The physical fire in the valley of Gehenna represents, symbolizes, is in some ways analogous to, a SPIRITUAL FIRE OF JUDGMENT.  Therefore, such things as whether one was quenched and the other is not to be quenched is of no consequence.  The pivital truth connecting the two fires is "judgment," and the latter judgment will not be quenched until it has accomplished that judgment.  Even the physical fires in the valley of Hinom was not quenched UNTIL it accomplished what it was intended for.  Hope this helps your understanding.

God be with you,
Ray
