Enemy - One who feels hatred toward, intends injury to, or opposes the interests of another; a foe (from Free Dictionary website)


Matt 5:43-44  Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

We once were 'enemies':

Rom 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

When we did not believe God and were by nature children of wrath:

Rom 11:30  For as ye in times past have not believed God...

Eph 2:3  ...we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others

In short, an enemy is one who opposes God and His Love, Character, and Will.

Boy, isn't that true?  It's not so much my physical family as it is the so-called family of faith of Christendom out there.  I get more far more resistance to the message of universal reconcilliation from the Christians than I ever do from the people of the world.
