New kid on the block
« on: April 02, 2010, 07:43:41 AM »

Hi everyone,

Just in case you wonder what's with the user name. It is supposed to remind me who I am. There are things I need to be constantly reminded of and this is one of them.

I've been a Sabbath keeper for most of my life and a member of the same church as Ray, but in a different part of the world. I still keep Sabbath but in a different way.

I am not much of a smalltalker. Some call it reserved, I prefer the term thinker, so if I get involved, I'll prbally will go straight to the point.

1] What do you guys do for Easter?

2] Does anyone know where I can get 'The Nutrition Factor' book mentioned by Dr Steger at 2009 Conference, Mobile, Alabama. I looked at all major online book stores but there is no sign of it.

May God bless and sanctify His elect.

I look forward to getting to know you all, Renat.

Hello Renat,

Welcome to the forum.

Here is a link in regards to purchasing Dr. Streger's book: link removed

As far as Easter, I'm not doing anything different than any other day. My family may be going to church service on Sunday, but just like every Sunday, I'll be at home alone.

welcome! and we will look forward to getting to know you as well....i also grew up in WWCOG, so i have a similar experience.....
this sunday i will cook a big meal for my family, but that is a typical 'sunday thing' at my house, when i can get everyone home that is! i have a 3 year old grandson, whose mother & family are big into holidays, and i walked around wal mart struggling with 'should i, or shouldn't i' get Coop something for Easter, and i decided that i was not going to do anything different....just felt right for me......

My in-laws and my earthly siblings celebrate Easter. My husband and our son,  do nothing for Easter.  For us the birth death and Ressurection of Jesus Christ is every day and not only one day of the year that is in the tradition of church and celebration of society in their holiday keeping and observance of religious traditons of man.

Thanks for taking the time to write your comments (Easter life insides) and the book info. I am quite new to the law of liberty and wanted to check if I am in any way out of step with what the 'old timers' practice.

There is quite a bit of time zone difference, so my postings will be out of sync and I apologise for that.

May God bless you all, Renat.

Welcome, Renat.  Curious what part of the world you are in.

I'm not 'old-timer' enough to have any set plans for Easter.  I neither DO nor actively DON'T DO easter and the other christian holidays.  For me, that's what ceasing from my labor and freedom means, in small part.

I catch myself saying "have a good Easter" still.  I hope I just mean it in the "have a nice long holiday weekend and get together with your family" kind of context.  I like Dave's way of describing not actively doing or not doing--don't want to spend much time analyzing it--just rest in the Lord, you know?!

Welcome to the forum Renat--good to have you here!

Love in Christ,

Welcome, I plan to worship God as best as I can like every other day(remembering the birth, death and Resurrection every day).
Going to eat some brisket too.
Kids will color some eggs for fun, as I try to teach them what and why we color eggs(pagan)
Maybe some gardening as well.
Peace

Welcome to the forum! Glad you have joined us!
Before God opened our eyes to the truth I was very anti "Easter" and we never did bunnies or eggs. We called it "Resurrection Day" and kept it very religious!  8)

Now that we are free, we don't go to church of course. We do have a nice dinner for my mom (she'll turn 77 -2 days later) who is still into all of this and let her dye eggs with the girls. It's the least I can do for her since I refused to let her take the kids to church with her!  ;) My girls know where we stand and like Roy, that this stuff is from pagan roots.

I just love spring and foodnetwork sent me too many new recipes that I needed to have a day to try out!  :-*  ;D

Hey Renat,

Welcome to the forum.
As far as Easter and other Holidays, we spend them just like any other day.

Blessings,

Thanks for all your postings. I do really appreciate them.

'Dave in Tenn' regarding your question, I live in South Pacific, way down under, but a little bit before Antarctica. The country is made up of two big islands (North & South) and one smaller island. There are also other islands, but they are further away. We are one of the first in the world to start a new day. How about for a clue?

I have another question besides the two mentioned above, but I don't know if I should start a new topic.

Is there a Bible translation you guys would use more often than other. I know, several translations are better than one, but there is usually one that is picked up first and more frequently. I have been using Revised Authorised Version (UK print), which is NKJV in US, but have recently looked at ESV more often. ESV seems to be easy to understand (for non-English readers) and appears to follow original texts quite closely.

What do you think about ESV? Have you come across any positive or negative comments/reviews?

Thanks.
