Hi Gallenwalsh,

                      The Word Sin comes from the Greek Word Hamartia and means " missing the mark or goal, a mistake. As an example: A person that shoots the Arrow from the Bow and misses the Bullseye, falls short of the mark. So, anything or anyone that falls short of God's Standards and Requirements to any degree has Sinned. The Hebrew Word is hhattath and is basically the same in meaning. All have Sinned and fall short of God's glory, Romans. 3:23. Even God's Chosen Elect Sin, but Sin doesn't have Dominion or reign over them or they aren't habitual practicers of a particular sinful course. Romans. 6: 1-12(verse 12 in particular). Contrast the prior Scripture with 1 John. 2:1,2.
