netherworld is also "阴间"
http://www.iciba.com/netherworld/
http://www.iciba.com/nether/

nether-world   yeah! if you rember the  caine, something really underground, wait a minute, but bible didn't say god is there, underground.

Exo 20:21  And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

ok,let us look at Psalm - 139:8,can you make bed underground ? of crouse you can,dig the ground, dig deeper, then  make bed in there then Cover it over with sand or whatever, well there will be the thick darkness .
Psalm - 诗篇 139:8
kjv:If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
niv:If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
amp:If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol (the place of the dead), behold, You are there.(3)
asv:If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there.
nasb:If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
esv:"If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!"

P.S

"netherworld"), it meant unseen and imperceptible.
as for scientifically tive
what we can see is depend on light,so the thick darkness which also meant unseen and imperceptible.
do you agree with this?

The way I read it that Psalms verse, it meant that God is always there, no matter how high or how low, you can't read it literally. And in the Exodus verse, God was in his cloudy form, and it didn't actually mean He was in sheol, as in netherworld or hell. It meant, as you said, "murkiness", "thick darkness". You know, "we were on a submarine and we looked into sheol [a dark murky cave] and we saw a giant squid!" That kind. I admit to not having E sword open at that reply. xD Read the earlier verses, you'll see that they were looking at God/YHWH in a tangible form in the murkiness. Thaz that. Corrections welcome. My gosh I think we've gone considerably off track.

This post may help with that cloudy murkiness.   ;)

Heb 10:32  But you must continue to remember those earlier days, how after you were enlightened you endured a hard and painful struggle.

Just to clarify a few things...

The thick darkness or cloud that the Israelites saw was on TOP of Mt. Sinai

Exo 19:20  The LORD came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain.

Exo 20:18  Now when all the people saw the thunder and the flashes of lightning and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking, the people were afraid and trembled, and they stood far off

Therefore, this has nothing to do with "Sheol"... Besides, God does NOT dwell in darkness:

1Jn 1:5  This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Hope this helps.
