He hasn't. But I was told the next installment of the LOF series would cover this topic.

Wailing and Nashing of Teeth?

Mat 13:41  The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire.  There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Ahha, they’re on fire.  See, they’re in such pain that they are wailing and gnashing their  teeth.  See??. .  .

Gnashing-Stiking the teeth together, as in anger, rage or pain.

What happened right before they martyred Stephen.

Act 7:54
When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.  (In other words, they were p'd.)

Psalm 112
The wicked man will see and be vexed, he will gnash his teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.

So it's obvious that it is speaking of being on fire and in screaming pain.

This might help ....

http://bible-truths.com/part7.htm

"Hell is called a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth."

No, this verse is not talking about Hell, hades, Gehenna, or the lake of fire, but those cast out of the Kingdom. Besides only the "sons of the Kingdom" are weeping and gnashing their teeth-the Jews. They rightfully should have been in the Kingdom, but were disqualified. This condition is not, however, eternal.

http://bible-truths.com/part8.htm

When Christ entered Capernaum a centurion [a Roman, a Gentile] asked Christ to heal his boy. Christ said He would come. The Centurion said He need only to "say the word" and he would trust Christ for the healing. "When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to them that followed, 'Verily I say unto you I have not found so great faith no, not in Israel'" (Mat. 8:5-10).

Why then, are the Gentiles relegated to "dogs?" Not in all Israel did our Lord find such faith as in these Gentile "dogs!" But "Judah" gets all the blessings while the "Gentile" dogs get the crumbs. Ah, just when we think things are going bad and God isn't fair, He shows us His strange and marvelous wisdom!

As Paul Harvey says, "And now for the rest of the story ... " What was Christ's response to this marvelous exhibition of faith by the Centurion?

"And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and the west [Gentiles], and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the Kingdom of Heaven, but the children of the kingdom [Judah] shall be cast into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Mat. 8:11-12). If these "from the east and the west" are not the "children of the kingdom" (that is some combination of Jews and Israelites), then they would have to be gentiles.

Christ is not telling us that "Jews" from the East and "Jews" from the West will sit down with Abraham, but that the "Jews" shall be cast out. That's contradictory. It's the "Jews" (also containing members of the other ten tribes) who are the "children of the kingdom" who are "cast out." Those from the East and West are "Gentiles." Christ is telling us who these "many" are because He is commenting on the faith that God has given to this Centurion "Gentile." This statement of Christ's at this particular occasion would be totally out of context, except for the fact that He is marveling over the faith of these Gentiles.

Hi Musicman,

Quote
Ahha, they’re on fire.  See, they’re in such pain that they are wailing and gnashing their  teeth.  See??. .  .

I think you are right about that, but maybe not in the way that you were implying that it would be literal.

GNASH'ING, n. nash'ing. A grinding or striking of the teeth in rage or anguish.

I think you were speaking in jest, as to the way that the church teaches that people will be literally burning and screaming in hell fire, thus causing them to gnash their teeth.

But this "gnashing of teeth" will be because of the intense (spiritual) anguish of "the sons of the kingdom" cast into "outer darkness."

Mat 8:12  But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Here is from the article that Fester posted, "only the "sons of the Kingdom" are weeping and gnashing their teeth-the Jews."

This email further explains about those 'Jews' that will be gnashing their teeth had knowingly blasphemed against the Holy Spirit!

http://forums.bible-truths.com/index.php/topic,2175.msg17491.html#msg17491 ----

When Jesus warned of this sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, it was when He had cast out demons. The Scribes said that Jesus cast out devils by the prince of devils (Mark 3:22).  The Pharisees also accused Him of this very same thing (Matt. 9:34). And we are told that Jesus gave that stern warning, "Because they said, He [Jesus] has an unclean spirit."

But this alone is not all there is to this sin. Even in the Old Testament, when one sinned "ignorantly," he was held to a lower standard than if he sinned "willfully, knowlingly."  God's principles are always true. There was more to the sin of these Scribes and Pharisees than merely stating that Jesus had a devil and cast out devils by the prince of devil. The truth is THEY KNEW BETTER.  They knew that they were lying in order to deceive the multitudes who were beginning to believe in and trust Jesus as a Man of God. They were SINNING AGAINST LIGHT.  They were sinning against WHAT THEY KNEW WAS THE TRUTH.  And how do we know this?  We are frankly TOLD this in the Scriptures.

In John 3 we have a "Ruler of the Jews" by the name of Nicodemus, and this is what we are told by him:  "There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a RULER [this man KNEW what the Scribes and the Pharisees believed behind closed doors] of the Jews. The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, Rabbi, WE [Scribes, Pharisees, Rulers, Jews]  KNOW  that you are a Teacher COME FROM GOD; for no man can do these miracles [such as casting out demons] that You do, except GOD BE WITH HIM"  (John 3:1-2).

It is when we KNOW the truth and blaspheme AGAINST THE TRUE LIGHT THAT WE KNOW, that we then "blaspheme against the Holy Spirit" which is the means by which light and truth is imparted.
-----------------------------------------------------

It was these Jewish Scribes, Pharisees, Rulers who committed a grevious sin with a grevious penalty that would cause them to "be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Mat 12:31  "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
v. 32  Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Kat:  please help me understand in reference to the last part of your explanation where you quoted the following verse:

Mat 12:31  "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
v. 32  Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

does this mean that this person will not receive eternal life? or is this only something to do with the "the age to come"; I'm confused about this verse and everyone being saved; if not forgiven how can one be saved?

In Judgment...which for unrepentant sinners, is going to be in the next age. So they will not be forgiven in this age or the next age (Judgment). Only after, after judgment and repentance, is any sinner forgiven.

Hi HoneyLamb,

There was this statement in the segment that I had posted from Ray.

Quote
WE [Scribes, Pharisees, Rulers, Jews]  KNOW  that you are a Teacher COME FROM GOD; for no man can do these miracles [such as casting out demons] that You do, except GOD BE WITH HIM"  (John 3:1-2).

It is when we KNOW the truth and blaspheme AGAINST THE TRUE LIGHT THAT WE KNOW, that we then "blaspheme against the Holy Spirit" which is the means by which light and truth is imparted.

So the Scribes, Pharisees, Rulers, Jews did know that Jesus was "come from God!"

Quote
They knew that they were lying in order to deceive the multitudes who were beginning to believe in and trust Jesus as a Man of God. They were SINNING AGAINST LIGHT.  They were sinning against WHAT THEY KNEW WAS THE TRUTH.

They knew He was from God, yet accused Him of; "This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub," (Matt. 12:24). This is "blaspheme against the Holy Spirit."

Mat 12:32  Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

So anyone that comments this sin was in for a much worse punishment that everyone else... not that they would not be saved. But maybe that is what the "outer darkness" is?

Mat 25:29  "For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
Mat 25:30  And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

There is no such phrase as 'the unpardonable sin' in Scripture. Certainly even these are part of the 'all' that will ultimately be saved, but as the Scripture says not "in this age or in the age to come," when Christ will rule. So there must be a time reserved after the next age that those deemed so wicked will be brought to salvation.

We have a post in FAQ, 100 Verses Proclaiming the 'Salvation of All' (at this link http://forums.bible-truths.com/index.php/topic,11798.0.html ) that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that absolutely all will be saved, eventually.
