a lesson in economics.........
« on: October 11, 2010, 12:16:29 PM »

A young Pastor, fresh out of seminary, moves out to the sticks to preach.
Within a couple of months he has become accepted in the local community and has begged and borrowed everything he just about needs for getting a roof over his tiny flock. After a few weeks, the lil' one roomed church is ready for it's first assembly, but for one detail. It needs a coat of paint.

Things start lookin' pretty slim on the paint front, however, he manages to get hold of one, five gallon drum of white. He figures if he blesses the job to the Lord, there'll be enough !
He turns up alone on Saturday morning, first light, and sets to it, single handed.

About a third of the way through, he stands back to look at it.  He realises that he isn't half way yet, but the drum is now half empty!
He has a great idea! He thins it down, to spread further.

His arms and back are aching in the bright afternoon sun.
He stops for a bite to eat and again steps back to check the progress, but same  as before, he realises there ain't enough.
He says a quick prayer and thins the paint again !

Toward sunset, he throws the brush into the empty pot and flops back on the white spattered grass.
He lays on his back exhausted, eyes closed in thankfulness.
After a few minutes, he sits up and looks at his finished work.

He can't believe what he's seeing!

He walks back to the road, to take a good look at the whole thing.

To his horror, the building is brilliant white at one end, gradually fading to a sickly grey at the other.
He falls to his knees in despair and begins to pray.

Suddenly, the ground begins to tremble and the sky becomes overcast.  Then a loud voice booms from the clouds above him:

" RE-PAINT ! AND THIN NO MORE."   ;D

(NB. no clergymen were injured during the making of this production.)

Repent and repaint.

God must supply the character and knowledge for one to repent.

The church denies this.

God also could offer the darned paint to re-paint.

he did not.  Neither does their god supply the character and knowledge for one to repent.

So, this is an excellent analogy of churchianity.  Their god says repaint without supplying the paint.  he always says repent without supplying what's needed there either.

Well observed MM !

Thanks Jingles!

Janine did you say you'd spent 10 years painting a ceiling?
No wonder you got problems!
That room must be a whole lot shorter now with the 10 years of carpets you laid.
(You're supposed to rip the old ones up.)
Maybe that's why y'all gotta stoop when ya go in there?

;D ;D
