what is the best scriptural point/question to put to a calvinist?
david1611kjv:
a poor die hard calvinist friend of mine who is very stubborn has been asking me about stuff, he knows the bible better than me and has an excuse for everything, surely the truth can silence his toungue for just a moment.....any suggestions?

--- End quote ---
Leave him alone: "A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still"
as well as: Prov 26:4-5 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes.
After you do this: 2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth
You'll know when to apply the part of that proverb when it is needed in dealing with your friend.
Hope this helps,
Marques

Marques hit the nail on the head, but I just wanted to add one point:
Jesus is the Savior of all mankind, and He will do it without anyone's help. We're just vessels. We're not going to save or convince anyone. The Father has to draw/drag them first, and until He makes them ready to receive the Truth, they won't. It's a hard lesson to learn, being that one is excited about what they're learning of the Truth, but God knows what He's doing.

good quotes mharrel, very good indeed!...i keep telling myself to stay away from such debate, but im like a moth to a flame sometimes, when i see something as deeply saddening as a fully convinced calvinist i think i can do something, but it soon becomes apparent that i am still a babe and i end up getting entangled in their vain deceit...it just makes me mad, i know what its like to believe this and the pain it caused me was unbearable..........i think it is to be likened to a mental illness to be honest, and have you ever tried talking to a crazy person?????i have and it was very similar..............hmmmmmmmm i stand corrected
thanx guys

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
