There will be no peace in Jerusalem

(1/4) > >>

patmokgoko:
How can the Bible say that we must pray for the peace of Jerusalem when there will be no peace in Jerusalem.Psalm 122:6

daywalker:

Notice this is a Psalm of King David, who reigned over Judah and Israel in the capital city of Jerusalem. Naturally, he would pray for his city and for his nation. We, too, can apply this to "New Jerusalem" (Rev 21:2), the Jerusalem which is "above" and "free" and "mother of us all" (Gal 4:26).

Deborah-Leigh:

The New Jerusalem comes DOWN out from Heaven of God...as in Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be done, ON EARTH, as it IS in Heaven...

Let me not pretend as if I understand when I am lost, are you saying it is wrong of me to quote, Psalm 103:8-9,am I being carnally minded,is this not for today? Is the Lord not my sherperd today?Am I missing something? Please help,I know of the new Jerusalem.I know and strongly believe that the Saviour will save ALL.

Kat:

Hi patmokgoko,

Psa 103:8  The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
v. 9  He will not always chide: neither will he keep His anger for ever (for the age).

This statement is true, but you need to consider it with the sum (whole total) of God's Word.

Psa 18:24  So the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.
v. 25  With the merciful You show Yourself merciful; with the blameless man You show Yourself blameless;
v. 26  with the purified You show Yourself pure; and with the crooked You make Yourself seem tortuous.
v. 27  For You save a humble people, but the haughty eyes You bring down.

He is "slow to anger," but look at the sum of His Word in this.

Nah 1:2  The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD is avenging and wrathful; the LORD takes vengeance on His adversaries and keeps wrath for His enemies.
v. 3  The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and the LORD will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.

See what I mean.

mercy, peace and love
