New kid on the forum
« on: August 06, 2011, 12:43:00 PM »

Greetings to all.

My background, well, I'm a pretty boring person so I'll spare you that. I'll just say I'm in Northern Ohio and I'm closing in on 60, fast.

I've read many of Ray's writings which are posted here. I'm very impressed.  He has spent incredible amounts of time in searching out God's truth as contained in the Scriptures and I appreciate that. Many I have copied to my Kindle so I can read and re-read them easier.

I'm looking forward to learning more, discussing it and taking to heart what I have already learned.  (It's one thing to know right from wrong, it's another to do right.)  I also need to commit to memory some of the concepts presented here and be able to quote, from memory, chapter and verse in defense of those concepts.  1 Pet3:15b ". . . and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"

Main concepts I've found here:
1. There is no hell. (except in Michigan, look it up)
2. God will redeem everyone and won't leave any in an eternal LOF.
3. Man does not have "Free Will".  Everything has been planned by God and everything is going exactly the way he planned it.  (Yes, EVERYTHING!!)
4. If a televangelist says it, the opposite is probably true. lol
5. Listen to your roofer.   :D

I've already:
   Checked out the forum rules.

   Perused the General discussion board.

Browsed the Child board for General discussion board - FAQ

Scanned the Forum Indexes & Info.

   Watched (some) of Ray's Videos

   Downloaded Ray's Audios

Read Transcripts of Ray's 2008 Audios

   Overlooked the Off Topic board

scanned the child board on Off Topic board

Haven't gotten to the Testimonies / Prayer Requests / Fellowship board

Haven't seen Child boards (since they are only available to members) on Testimonies board

Then there's still Members Recipes, for sharing recipes and food tips

Did I miss one, kat?  ;)

I'm not much of a "forum" (read: sociable) person.  I deactivated my facebook page for lack of use.  So I will be an often visitor but an infrequent poster.  It takes me too long to compose a post.  I've already spent two hours on this one!
Learning Love,
Lewis

Welcome to the forum Lewis.  I printed out all of Ray's materials and they filled several heavy binders and then I bought a Kindle like you have and am moving all the files to the Kindle.  Nice, compact and doesn't take up any space.  I do like it lots better.

Take care,

Doug

Hi Lewis,

I'm glad you joined us  :)
I think you just about covered it all. It just goes to show that we have some very active non-posters. I know ya'll are out there and I consider that group quite often when I post. Well I hope you will find that you feel more motivation to post than you think, we need more perspectives it helps in the discussions.
Seems a little redundant to give you the links to what we have here, but I don't want you to feel left out.

Hi Lewis

Spending hours on a post that carries only a few lines...spending days on searching for an answer or an appropriate approach to a post or poster...can be a real wrestling match! ~ :D

I'm glad you surfaced to let us know you are around and about! It's good to see you...~ :)

Hey Lewis, welcome to the forum, glad you are here!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      2 Peter 1:4-84 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hi Lewis.  Traverse City was nice, and they tell me the UP is the greatest place for outdoor sports.  Of course, it was a Michigander who told me that, and your thoughts about TV Evangelists may have a corollary there.   :P

Welcome aboard.  Post as often or as little as you like.  I really believe the forum is mostly for the readers.  Like Kat said, they are very much in my mind, and I suffer when they aren't.  It may be better to say 'I've posted too little' than 'I've posted too much'.

Anyways, good to hear from you.

Hello Lewis, welcome to BTF.

Quote
I also need to commit to memory some of the concepts presented here and be able to quote, from memory, chapter and verse in defense of those concepts.  1 Pet3:15b ". . . and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"

I've always appreciated those who can quote chapter and verse for everything to the point that they seem to be a walking bible. Some might say the reason those of us that can't do that just haven't studied long enough to get that part of it down yet. Maybe, maybe not but being able to give an answer for the hope that is in us doesn't necessarily have to be chapter and verse. Doesn't matter if we quote a 100 verses stating why we believe how we do to a un-believing person. For me, I've come to realize this the hard way but that's the way I learn most everything so it's par for the course. Anyway, Lewis I understand what you mean and what you said about taking too long to compose a post, I'm right there with ya.

If 60 is the new 30 then you'll  bump into a lot of young folks around here. Not me though, I'm in with the older 40 something crowd,  :)

Thank you, all, for the warm welcome.
Now I must go read more and compose a question or two.
