Rene and Antiawan and Dave,
Thanks for your sympathy. Following is a little of our history, tongue in cheek.
We were supposed to tithe three times during our thirty years in WCG.
1st tithe to church outreach and feeding the flock.
2nd tithe for spending upon self or neighbors during seven Holy Day observances.
3rd tithe for widows and orphans extracted twice in seven years.
I confess that I was not "church" faithful very often.
My wife objected even though she was sympathetic to my pleadings.
So we got permission to view my income as half hers. (of course)
Her income as all hers. (she was not a baptized member)
Travel expenses to and from weekly services e.g car mileage deducted.
Later in those thirty years, I decided that my wife and I were just as capable of deciding who and which charities were deserving as the headquarters ministers were.
So from then on we sent in our excess out of our pocket money after paying for food for our four growing children.
We provided transportation for needy older folks, basketball teams, picnic outings, bible studies with refreshments at our home and so forth.
Conscience clear with reservations and regular prayer for forgiveness of our sins of ignorance or of selfish weakness.
The church had a full record of our contributions and the pastors, elders had access to same. No one ever complained.
Case closed.
Kindly, Indiana Bob
