You got it Brother. I have had problems in the past with the IRS to the degree of almost losing everything including my sanity. It was an extremely hard trying time that I will never forget.

Hi Brad,

I will gladly pray the prayer you have requested, because what you seek is what I hope for all my brethren.:)

Our trials can be overwhelming at times, but I am learning to have confidence in the fact that the Lord will not lose any of those He has chosen.   These difficult and challenging trials will help to build your faith and make you a better person when you come out on the other side.  Arion shared a beautiful witness to this reality.

If you do the right thing, you can NEVER go wrong.

René

John 6:39-40 -"Now this is the will of Him Who sends Me, that all which He has given to Me, of it I should be losing nothing, but I shall be raising it in the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who is beholding the Son and believing in Him may have life eonian, and I shall be raising him in the last day."

Just as a side note, it is perfectly legal for Congress to level income taxes. Prior to the Sixteenth Amendment, it wasn't.

Article I, Section 2, Clause 3:
Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers...[1]

Article I, Section 8, Clause 1:
The Congress shall have power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises...but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States...

Article I, Section 9, Clause 4:
No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.

HOWEVER, this was changed by the Sixteenth Amendment:

Amendment XVI:
(1913)
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States and without regard to any census or enumeration.

Essentially, the 16th Amendment nullified the three sections mentioned above.

This is another example of the inconsistency of man's laws. Isn't it such a wonderful thing that God's laws are NOT inconsistent?

In Him,
John

Mat 22:21  They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

You owe it and you have to pay it.

bpenelli:
Thank you all for you replies and your prayers.

--- Quote from: John from Kentucky on November 15, 2011, 04:17:51 PM ---The willful failure to file a federal tax return is a federal crime, a felony.

--- End quote ---

Since I haven't not filed, I don't think I have to be concerned about that.

I won't argue with that. I pray that God has mercy on me and shows me a way.

Matthew 17:27 (CEV)
27 But we don't want to cause trouble. So go cast a line into the lake and pull out the first fish you hook. Open its mouth, and you will find a coin. Use it to pay your taxes and mine."

Not quite, see BRUSHABER v. UNION PACIFIC R. CO., 240 U.S. 1 (1916) http://laws.lp.findlaw.com/getcase/us/240/1.html and POLLOCK v. FARMERS' LOAN & TRUST CO., 157 U.S. 429 (1895) http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=us&vol=157&invol=429.

This was an issue of income as a "gain" from property. A tax on "gain" is an indirect tax and not required to be apportioned and this is exactly what the POLLOCK case and the 16th amendment was all about (see BRUSHABER). Since income taxes are indirect (they don't diminish the source because it is only on "gain"), so they are not required to be apportioned. Wages given in exchange for labor is not a "gain" (i.e not income), it is an even exchange. Therefore a tax on wages given in exchange for labor diminishes the source and is therefore a direct tax requiring apportionment. Also the rule of apportionment on direct taxes has never been repealed (again see BRUSHABER).

I'll pray for you Brad, financial difficulties a very unpleasant, to say the least, I can relate to this, because I despise owing anyone Money or being in debt, it's very depressing, especially owing Money to an institution that's corrupt and criminal like in itself.
...
Brad, If you ever need to someone to speak with, I'm not too far from You, Easton, Pa. Pm Me if you desire and if Not, that's okay too.

Kind Regards, Samson.

Thank you for your prayers and compassion. I will take you up on your offer and pm you soon.

--- Quote from: Arion on November 15, 2011, 09:26:56 AM ---I can identify with that brother and I walked down the same path.

Yet, God made a way in the midst of it.

Blessings to you and although you can't see a silver lining when your going through it I trust that later you too will be able to look behind you and see what God was doing in your life through this trial.  He will make a way for you through this.
