Why are so many scientists atheists/agnostic (Science vs Faith)?

Jerry Coyne says  that the national academy of scientists (the most elite group of scientists)
of which 93% atheists/agnostics and regular scientists 67% are atheist/agnostics. If science
shows the beauty and the process of how God acts in the material world then why don't most
scientists believe in a higher power or say that there is no evidence of a higher power?

Michael:  The reason is simple: [1] Chances are good that their parents were not theists or
Christians,and [2] All scientists graduate from college and all colleges teach atheism and/or
evolution.
