Prayer for My Son
« on: July 16, 2006, 10:34:30 AM »

My son is exhibiting some symptoms of juvenile diabetes.  We had him tested and are awaiting the results.

Please pray that everything will be fine.

I know that God's will be done.  Its just that His will can be difficult to accept sometimes.

Dear Craig,

When we are personally being tried by fire, the last things we want to hear are platitudes. You are long & mature in the Lord & know His Word & there is probably very little Scripture that one would quote that you are not already aware of. Having said that, being a brother & sister in the Lord, we will offer up our prayers & petition, with thanksgiving, along with you, to the Lord, for your son & you & your family.

In that, we will quote David, from Psalm 34:1-3 - I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear & rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together.

God's Abundant Grace & Peace,
Tom & Marianne

Craig,

Prayers are going up for your son.

"Lord, I pray that Craig's son will be healthy and free of diabetes. But if that is not Your will, please give them Your peace and let him be easily regulated. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!"

Please let us know the results.

Sandy

Craig, my wife is diabetic and although she has had some problems, she is doing very well and lives a pretty active life. I will pray for your son and you and your wife, that God will be with you all and that better cures can be found, if it is God's will.

I've been praying too Craig.

I take my clients to a diabetes specialist and I'm learning a lot from him. I work with adults though and that is probably different than children.

I found a good site with injection slide shows that I use to teach my clients.

Dear Craig,
Please keep us updated on your son's progress. Blessings, Laura

My son has type 1 Diabetes.  We have been in the hospital with him the end of last week, that is why I've not been here much.  He is doing fine, just starting to accept the fact of daily shots, tests and change of diet.   I wish it were me instead of him, but I don't think I would be able to handle it as well as he is either.  Thanks for you prayers, we still have a long way to go.

I am really sorry to hear about your son. Type I DM can seem like a major obstacle at first. Remember God put you here at this time and there is more hope today than ever. They are working on nasal insulin, pancreatic beta cell implants etc and many new acting insulins  One good thing about diabetes is that your son will become more aware of his body than most kids his age.

Eating the right foods as well and monitoring exercise can help keep sugar in control. With the new glucose monitors patients today are now equal partners in their care so they do not have to be so reliant on the medical system for management of a lot their care.

Their lives however are not as restricted as they were in the past. Staying on top of infections is also important, There are many high profile people who are type I. There are also camps and programs where he can see other kids and learn to be cool with his DM.

You are right however, seeing your child go through this is a lot harder. I pray that you let the Holy Spirit enable you to confidently say "I fear no evil for Thou art with me"  Increase my faith faith in Your Lovingkindness and in Your almighty power that I may overcome my fears and meet every trying confidence. Make Your Stength perfect in my weakness.

I, too, pray that your son is fine, according to God's Will, and, if the tests show he's not, know that you have plenty of folks, brothers and sisters, in Christ, that you can commune with and have comfort with. "May the Lord be with you and your son"--snorky
