Why are these slain souls given white robes?

"And there was given to them, each one, a white robe, and it was bidden them, that they should rest yet a little while—until the number should be made full of their fellow-servants also, and their brethren, who were about to be slain as even, they" (Rev 6:11, Rotherham).

No idea.

The use of "psuche" seems to denote blood. The whole thing seems to relate with Abel's blood crying out to God. However, was Abel's blood clothed with a white robe?

Hi NS - I have a couple of thoughts.

Rev. 19:8
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Jesus Christ is our righteousness.  Therefore, those arrayed in fine linen (white robes) are clothed in Jesus Christ.

I'm thinking "slain souls" has to do with those who have experienced the "second death."  The death of the carnal mind which is "soulish."

So perhaps those who have their soulish nature slain, are granted the gift of being fully clothed in Jesus Christ......Hope these thoughts help.
Peace,
Layla

They're slain for the Word of God by the evil in the world. Does the evil slay their own carnality? No. The purpose of the passages is to show that the Christians will be avenged. How are they clothed, though?

"For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven" (2Co 5:2, KJV).

1Co 5:5  To deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Did they commit suicide, then?
