I agree Samson, as far as male singing voice I think Steve Perry was the best.  As far as overall talent, (singing, writing, music) Freddie Mercury was it.

I would of loved to have had a singing voice like Perry....smooth as silk.  Mercury was a twinkie to be sure.  He was a flamer before I even knew what that was but the man had about the widest vocal range I'd ever heard.  Their bohemian rhapsody was certainly one of the most unique songs ever done.  It was sad that a great talent had to end like that but of course this is true for many of the rockers.  They burned out with sex, alcohol and drugs.  Not many of them live to become old.
