Before I found Ray's website ...

I have always believed the truths of God.
I had been asking God to show me His truths.
I wasn't asking God for direction, but I knew something was wrong with what my church taught.
I firmly believed everything my church taught without question.
I believed the truths and tried not to do so.

Before I found Ray's website ...
« on: July 19, 2006, 03:59:29 PM »

Many of us have shared our testimonies, so I thought it would be fun to do this poll.

As for me, I had been asking God to show me His truths for many years. I even wished I had grown up knowing absolutely nothing about the Bible, and I wondered what I would've believed if I had come to it without a preconceived ideology, with God's Spirit as my only teacher.

I also like playing with color!  :)

Can we add a category for "I believed the truths and tried not too"  ;D?  Doesn't that sound like a ridiculous thing to do?

Done!   ;D

I was raised in a Southern Baptist church since I was born.  I was never taught anything but what they teach, but there were always times that I wondered why God was putting me through 'tough times.'  I had always believed that if you did right you would be blessed and have a wonderful life.  I went to seminary, and it was in seminary that I learned that tithing was not Scriptural for the New Testament church.  This caused me to wonder about other teachings.  It was eight years later that I found Ray's site.  As I read his papers, I was angry, not at Ray's writings, but angry toward the church for teaching lies.  I was seeing the truth for the first time in my life.  My wife keeps asking how I can believe this 'trash.'  I know that God is not choosing everyone, but I still am amazed at how easy these truths were for me to see, and she cannot see them.  I look in the Scriptures, and yep, there they are.  She looks in the Scripture, and nope, there they ain't.  Amazing...
