Hey, Bob. I hear ya. I don't know about all the schools involved in this endeavor, but Stanford is a private University -- but I also know that doesn't mean much these days. I'd like to think collectively there's more "baby" than "bathwater."

However, Notre Dame du Lac is a private Catholic university and they take tons of government money and kiss up or comply with Government dictates in order to get it. In fact the building that I managed for seven years was owned by the U. S. DOE and built on campus by tax dollars in 1963. See drawing at following site.

Maybe math and physics is relatively safe from Government influence and bias, but sociology, psychology and political science, banking and medicine certainly would not be.
Otherwise I like the idea very much.
