Introduction

[Jacklalanne]

Hello friends,
My name is Russ. I live with my wife Harriet in SW Montana. Glad to be here and looking forward to learning new truth and participating. I have been to most every corner of Babylon. From the Mormons to the JW's. Presently, and I can't see it changing, we are not attending any church. I have lurked here and (somewhat selfishly) was distressed at Ray's passing. I am glad he is not suffering any more and happy he was able to impart so much wisdom and leave behind a wonderful legacy of spiritual truth.
I have to work tonite and am needing to take a nap before I go so I will sign off for now. I may come in and join the discussion from work as time allows.
Kind Regards, Russ

Hi Russ,

Welcome to the forum!  It is always a pleasure to meet our "lurking" brethren who decide to join.

Just like you, I also have had my varied "tour" of Babylon as well, and no longer attend any church.  Many of our members have a similar story.  It's apparently a necessary part of the process.

I'm glad you have joined us
Yeah we all landed here after a sojourn in Babylon. Well I hope you will find this place a rest for your soul or a little respite from the world. I find it very encouraging to be among other brethren, even like here on this forum, I think it really builds us up to discuss this truths with others of like mind, so do join in.

Welcome Russ and Harriet,
I hope God blesses you here as he has done for me!
I too tried to serve in a church while learning new truths, but they rejected my contribution so eventually I left to worship alone.
Old "indianabob" 77 and counting, Plymouth, IN
Been retired from U. of Notre Dame for seven years.
Love to learn more about Montana. Is there a city near your home?
Can you share your work experience? These details help me to relate.

Hi Bob,
Thank you for writing...I live in Anaconda. It's in SW Montana near Butte.
Regarding my work experience I worked in the drywall and painting trades for 30+ years. With the last 15 or so of that as a contractor while at the same time also operating a paint store, coffee biz and taco biz. I had gone back to school at the age of 35 and earned a degree in Industrial Electronics Technology, but never really used my college education until the past five years. In that ensuing time I have been and remain an Engineer at the Montana State Hospital. It is the states' only Psychiatric Hospital. I love my job, co-workers and the patients and wish I had begun working at it 20 years ago. I just turned 63 and am planning to work till I am at least 70.
My interests other than spiritual interests include: Bodybuilding, walking; I walk 8 miles/day from April-Sept (that's when our weather is nicest), and 2-5 miles a day the rest of the year. My wife and I also enjoy rockhounding. We live in one of the most mineral rich areas in the world. (Butte is known as "The Richest Hill on Earth). I believe there are some interesting wikipedia articles and books written on the storied (and at times seamy and somewhat sordid) histories of both Butte and Anaconda.
I posted more of my story in two posts on the "Off Topic Discussions" board in response to a post by Stacey on a thread titled: "New primary care physician" if I recall correctly, so for the sake of brevity I'll try to post a link to those msgs rather than repeating it here:
http://forums.bible-truths.com/index.php/topic,14700.msg130116.html#msg130116  Well now...I find that link takes you to my 2nd msg on that thread seemingly no matter how I try to configure it, so you will need to scroll up the thread a couple of posts to get to my personal story.
I also enjoy posting and discussing my views on various subjects, spiritual, political and otherwise on Facebook and would be glad to be fb friends with you or anyone else here that would be interested. My PM addy there is: hecame4u2@facebook.com
Kind Regards,
Russ

Hi Russ,
Appreciate your reply. Will send more by Private mail later.
I was in the U. S. Air Force during the late fifties and heard a song in which Butte was mentioned. It keeps rattling around in my head event at this late date so I'm going to cope the verse here. Maybe you have heard Gordon MacRae sing it.
It's called "hair of Gold, eyes of Blue"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx4V1KCC6hI&feature=related

I came down from Butte, Montana,
for a little change of scene,
And I stopped to stay in Santa Fe,
where I met a pretty queen.
Hair of gold, eyes of blue,
lips like cherry wine
She's the prettiest gal I ever knew and I'm gonna make her mine.
Now I planned to leave on Monday,
but she held me kinda tight,
So I stood my ground and hung around,
and then I left on Friday night.
Oh, hair of gold, eyes of blue,
lips like cherry wine,
The prettiest gal I ever knew and I'm gonna make her mine.
