Friend and Cousin Died
« on: December 10, 2012, 12:45:36 PM »

My cousin and close friend died this morning of a heart attack, he would have been about 46-47 years old.  He leaves a wife and kids and grand kids.  Please remember Jeff's family in your prayers, I can only imagine their hurt right now.

My heart is heavy.

Thanks Dave, to add insult to injury my Dad called and while he was crying told me I need to be in church.  :(

How do you respond at a time like that?  I just told him Church was not the only place God was.

Hi Craig, Sorry for your loss, I pray for God's comfort on his family. It is tough to re-adjust your thinking to that certain somebody not being there and people are so confused from lack of knowing the truth. Your answer sounds good to me. Sometimes it sounds like they think church is God, more than being just a link to Him.

Be in church for what? If it's for the funeral then IMO no problem.

It's so difficult to find a close friend and then you have to get used without him now. God bless you and his family during this difficult time.

Sorry for your loss, Craig.

It sounds like you dad is just worried about your salvation when you die.  Perhaps this will open the door for you to share some scriptural truths with your dad at a more opportune time.  Not that your dad will necessarily receive what you share with him, but then again, you never know. :-\

Sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and all concerned.

Matthew 5:4
Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

i am sorry craig.  for your loss, and for the statement from your dad, especially through tears.  but like rené said, he is most likely just worried about your salvation (now that you don't attend church).  he's just loving you the best way he knows how.

i pray for your cousin's wife and kids.  death just sucks for those left behind.

i am so sorry about your friend Craig. I pray that God sends His peace that surpasses all understand to you and his family. I understand very well what you are going through with the many family members I have lost just this year. May Comfort and Peace rest upon your hearts during this time  of sorrow.
