Unto the Angel of the church of ....
« on: January 29, 2013, 08:55:31 AM »

Hi all ,Need some help here, Revelation chapter 2, Jesus speaking

Rev 2:1  Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

Rev 2:12  And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

quoting ray "THE REVELATION of St. John the Divine." But you see that title for this book is the invention of the translators. There is no such title in the Greek manuscripts. Now then, read the first verse of Revelation one: "The Revelation of JESUS CHRIST..."

Now the revelation was given to John by the father of/about Jesus right ?

Were the points raised in  Revelation chap 2 and 3 given to the Angel of the various churches ? or was it to the members of the churches ? If it was to the angel of the church mentioned, how was John going to communicate the message  ? The word says write to the angels, this does not make to much sense though. Is this a translation error ? existing in most copies ?

thanks in advance

OK yes I have noted what Ray said and see that ,

So The Lord Instructs John to write to the angel or messenger so he the [angel] can take it [the message from Jesus via john] to the particular church [is this how u read it ?]

The seven stars are the angels given charge of the seven churches.

1Co 6:3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

on what, grounds do we Judge Angels [I was thinking this ties in with Revelation 2&3 as the 7 stars are seemingly overseers of the 7 candlesticks]

So as you can see this whole question of mine based on 1Cor 6v3 is not making sense  -

" there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ also comes into play" if it is directed at the church" Jesus did not come to judge - John 12 v47 John 8v15

Is there a better translation, as this 'like ray would say' does not fit hope you understand what i am trying to say.

Ian 155  You say " Now the Revelation was given to John by the Father of/ about Christ. "   No, the Revelation of Christ was given to Christ by his Father, to show his ( Christ) servants ( that being John and the Elect in every generation).  John symbolizes the elect.

OK getting there - last one - these flaws Jesus is mentioning to the church they pertain to me,  most if not all.... you're saying this is directed at the false church only ? and not those in Christ ?

Amazing how quickly the word gets stolen, even if  one has read and re-read these scriptures and papers - I always seem to have the tendency to revert back to the "fleshpots" of Egypt - Instead of reading guided by the Spirit,without even knowing it you are reading literally, this time I was taken back much faster talk about "Be on Guard" wow Ill take that seriously from now on...

thanks for the in-put JFK

Ian

Quote from part x

"The [spiritual] Revelation [that is, was, and will be] of [spiritual] Jesus Christ [who is, was, and will be], which God gave unto Him, to show unto His [spiritual] servants [which are were and will be] [spiritual] things [which are, were, and will be] which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and [spiritually] signified [what is, was, and will be] by His [spiritual] angel [which is, was, and will be] unto His [spiritual] servant [which is, was, and will be] John.

Who bare [spiritual] record of [what is, was, and will be] of the [spiritual] word [which is, was, and will be] of [spiritual] God [who is, was, and will be], and of the [spiritual] testimony [which is, was, and will be] of [spiritual] Jesus Christ [Who lives, was dead, and am alive; Who is, was, and will be; the Alpha and the Omega; the beginning and the end; Who is, was, and is to come], and of all [spiritual] things [which are, were, and will be], that he [spiritually] saw [things that are, and were, and will be].

[Spiritually] Blessed is he [who is, was, and will be] that [spiritually] reads [what is, was, and will be], and they that [spiritually] hear [what is, was, and will be] the [spiritual] words of this [spiritual] prophecy [which is, was, and will be], and [spiritually] keep those things [which are, were, and will be] which are [spiritually] written therein: for the [spiritual] time [that is, was, and will be] is [spiritually] at hand" (Rev. 1:1-3.)

It's a common problem Ian. The entire book of Revelation is Symbolic. Not literal and not prophetic and in fact it ties incredibly with similiar books of the OT. Unless God has opened the eyes of your understanding, you will never get it. It is for the few.
