Listening to Ray's audio on church government, shows one of the foundations that keep a lot of institutional churches going.  And that's F-E-A-R.  To me FEAR stands for Fleecing Everyone At Random.  When Ray mentioned that the likes of Paula White, Creflo Dollar (I call him Cashflow Hollar) & Joyce Meyer, use fear to coerce folks into giving money.  And they REALLY stroke the fear by saying, and I'm paraphrasing here, "SEND GOD YOUR MONEY TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL".  I thought about a line in Hank Williams, Jr's song "The American Dream".   

"Now there are some preachers on TV, with a suit and a tie and a vest

They want you to send your money to the Lord, but they give you their address" 

Cause all of your donations, are completely tax-free

God bless you all, but most of all, send your money"

Ray then talked about Herbert Armstrong's excessive thirst for power.  It just goes to remind us how easy it is to develop a lust for such material excesses.  We're all made subject to vanity.  And I actually start to feel sorry for Armstrong's blind arrogance.  After all, the blind CANNOT see.
