John 6.40

I was just reading John 6:40 For it is my Fathers will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day. (NLT)  My question is what does the word "see" mean in this verse?  I guess it is possible to see Jesus physically after he died, Saul/Paul did, but still I do not understand this. Please help, and Thank you before your answers.
