Father's Day
« on: June 16, 2013, 04:11:27 PM »

On Mother's Day, someone always has a syrupy, sentimental post about Mothers.

Well, what about us Fathers?  You couldn't have mothers without fathers.

I'm just not feeling the love here for fathers.    :'(

It's TV.
This is the last time, 1958, that anyone thought fathers had value in the home.
Every sitcom since then has portrayed fathers as bumbling air heads and unable to lead.
And the mothers as being always in competition with their own daughters for affection.
It's all about greed and being as good as the wealthy neighbors

father knows best
Premiered: 1958, on CBS
Rating: TV-G

Premise: Perhaps the quintessentially comforting '50s sitcom, about the Anderson family---rock-steady Jim, sensible wife Margaret, and their kids Betty, Bud and Kathy---in the Midwestern town of Springfield. The series was adapted from a radio program, also starring Robert Young, that began in 1949. When CBS canceled the show in 1955, fan protests led to NBC picking it up and nurturing it into a hit. In fact, repeats aired in prime time for three years after the production of its last original episode.

Happy Father's day to all the Dads!

My kids were like "Happy fathers day dad!" I was like "What? Every day is Father's day to me!"

Farther, my DAD

My DAD is the one who goes farther, the whole distance, in his care for his children and wife.
