a song of the times we live in; sad to say
« on: December 27, 2013, 11:49:12 PM »

Boys & girls,

I really like this artist and the melody he performs, but I am saddened that it is illustrative of the times we live in. As many people separating as becoming wed.

It seems that it is all about making ME happy and our obligations to make it work don't seem to matter the way they should.

Don’t fret, Bob, God is in control.  The “times we are living in” are just as they MUST be.  It is an age of contrast, the experience of good and evil.  If you have had a successful marriage, count your blessings because you have been graced to experience the good side. ;)

Dreadful song - not because he can't sing - just illustrates control or lack of it
This should cheer us up :)

Hi folks,
I had difficulty understanding the lyrics so I copied them here in print.

One comment: I think the first sentence is misleading to a modern, non biblical audience.
Mary and Joseph were officially betrothed within the laws of the Jewish people and this reality is not conveyed in the lyrics.
Also the wise men came much later and were not enumerated.
And Jesus was not ALWAYS "out on his own" he was an obedient child and never sinned.

That does not take away from the beauty of the melody and intentions of the artists.

Christmas Song Submit Correct Lyrics

She was his girl, he was her boyfriend
She'd be his wife and make him her husband
A surprise on the way, any day, any day
One healthy and little giggling, dribbling baby boy

The wise men came, three made their way
To shower him with love while he lay in the hay
Shower him with love, love, love
Love, love, love, love, love was all around

Not very much of his childhood was known
Kept his mother Mary, worried always out on his own
He met another Mary, who for a reasonable fee
Less than reputable was known to be

His heart was full of love, love, love
Love, love, love, love, love was all around

When Jesus Christ was nailed to his tree
Said, Oh, Daddy, oh, I can see how it all soon will be
I came to shed a little light on this darkening sea
Instead I fear I've spilled the blood of my children all around

The blood of our children all around
The blood of our children all around

So I'm told, so the story goes
The people then knew they were less than golden hearted
Gamblers and robbers, drinkers and jokers
But all soul searchers just like you and me, like you and me

Rumors insisted that he soon would be
For his deviations taken into custody
By the authorities, less informed than he
Drinkers and jokers, all soul searchers

Searching for love, love, love
Love, love, love, love, love was all around

Preparations were made for His celebration day
He said eat this bread but think of it as me
Drink this wine and dream
It will be the blood of our children all around

The blood of our children all around
The blood of our children all around

Father, up above, why in all this anger
Do you fill us up with love, love, love?
Love, love, love, love, love is all around

And Father, up above, why in all this hatred
Do you fill us up with love, love, love
Love, love, love, love, love is all around

Indianabob you have your finger on the pulse of life - I love that about you :)
Yes this is my limit when it comes to 'christian' music
melodic and harmonic
the words are penned from someone's heart
and I respect a sentimental kind heart
factually correct or not :)
