Nelson Boils:
"Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom i handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme."
In what ways can one be handed over to Satan to be taught a lesson?
John from Kentucky:
Read the first few chapters of the Book of Job as to what Satan can do.

In some way other than a 'religious ceremony'?
Perhaps it's to call the police, though I don't think that's what Paul is talking about here.
There are other passages and examples even in Paul's writing that echo this thought in different words (and sometimes in the same). What I take away from it is to 'withdraw'. There is no good thing that comes from endless argument. We're told not to engage in them.
Nelson Boils:
Dave
