"People go into marriage with a carnal mind, with physical expectations."-L.Ray Smith

What do you think Ray meant by his above statement?

So what would you say is the purpose of a man and a woman being joined together in marriage?

Any ideas?

Hello,Shechiyn

Proverbs 30:18-19New Living Translation (NLT)

18 There are three things that amaze me—
no, four things that I don’t understand:
19 how an eagle glides through the sky,
how a snake slithers on a rock,
how a ship navigates the ocean,
how a man loves a woman.

My God have mercy on your soul, :o ;D ;D ;D ;D

If you're talking about the "spiritual" purpose, I think it is a shadow of Christ's relationship with the Church. Obviously an imperfect, physical, carnal shadow, but one that gives us a small glimpse of a greater spiritual reality in the ages to come. I am typing from a phone so I can't type out all the verses, but you can find a lot of talk about brides and bridegrooms in the New Testament, notably in Ephesians 5 and Revelation 19:7 and 21:2.
