That's what I get for being an ex-southern baptist. I don't know about all this lineage of the promise stuff. Was there a promise of blessing before Abraham? I don't know, myself, and could be shown. You are right, though, that one Lamech may not be the other one, though their daddies' names were almost identical, never mind all the 7's.
I'm not so sure that Lamech is warning his wives, kindly or otherwise. I don't see any reason from scripture to think he actually slew another man (or two) the way Cain did, and he laments having done so, not gloats about it. That's just what I see, and of course, I could be wrong.
As for the rest of it, I'll stand suitably chastised. :)

I wonder how many Brothers wanted to throw rocks at Paul before God converted him on his way to kill more Christians? Paul the foremost sinner in human history converted in a few minutes. "He that is forgiven much loves much" . I hope this comment isn't too far off subject, it's just what came to mind.
