Pregnant Wife
« on: March 17, 2017, 02:35:24 AM »

Hey all,

Just found out the other day that my wife is pregnant. There were some serious complications last time she was pregnant due to a liver disease called cholestasis. She didn't have any symptoms of cholestasis till the last month or two of the pregnancy and during the delivery she lost a lot of blood. So the doctor recommended that we do not have another one. This was 9 years ago.

We found out she was pregnant again after she became very itchy all over her body, which can be a symptom of cholestasis. The itchiness reminded her of how it felt during the last pregnancy which prompted her to take a pregnancy test. Sure enough she was pregnant.

She is pretty worried, in part because the symptoms of cholestasis are coming in pretty early; she's not even a month pregnant. I try to comfort her the best I can. It's heartbreaking to watch her squirm due to the extreme itchiness and worry. So I told her I'd ask some "true believers" that I know to pray for her.

If you could, please pray for her peace and comfort and that the pregnancy will go good. And yes of course most importantly ask that God's will be done, whatever that may be.

If anyone has any experience with this type of disease and knows of anything that might relieve the extreme itchiness, please feel free to share here or send me a pm. I've googled a bit, but there does not seem to be much in the way of treatment.

Thanks

Please do.  We've got about eight months to hang in there with you.

will pray for you and your wife;  for my first pregnancy I had itching on the inside of my abdomen and drove me crazy because you couldn't scratch; but don't know if same thing as your wife; doctor dismissed it (30 years ago) so never knew cause; my pregnancy was okay so praying that it will go good for your wife and that after 9 years that her system is stronger.

Thanks again everyone!
How are you and your family doing ?

I often ask how her she is feeling and doing and she says the itching has gotten a little better :) She was in a world of hurt there for a while. I think everything is gonna be ok.

Her and my youngest son are in Anchorage 800 miles away at the moment both with doctors appointments. Son had a pin placed in his hip a couple years ago so they wanna see how that is going. We'll also get a better idea on the health of the pregnancy.

Thanks for asking and thank you all so much for the prayers.

As promised here is an update.

My wife had the baby yesterday a little after 7pm and everything seems ok! What a relief. It seemed one thing after another was gonna make this pregnancy very tough but she had a team of doctors and nurses taking good care of her. Thank God.

His name is Rick and he was 7 pounds 11 ounces and 19 inches long. He was born with a full head of hair and "perfect eyebrows" :)

Thank you all for your prayers and keep on praying for each other.

Peace,

Porter
