Movie

Musterseed:
I read this book when I was ignorant of the truth. The trinitarians and free willers will love it.
The book never would have been written or the movie made if it did not serve a purpose in
Our Lords Master Plan. Like StevenL said, it's genius. All is of God. He has a reason for everything.
This movie is already stirring up controversy and getting people's attention, even the atheists
are weighing in. Somewhat like the foolishness of preaching IMHO. The followers of Jesus could pick that movie apart in a split second, but not them. Oprah endorsed this book and put it in her
book club. Did she understand it, I doubt it. She got her cut, and so will all of the peddlers of Gods word. God is using them too. But for us.

"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel
contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed." ...Gal. 1:8

Thanks everyone for your comments. Our conversation with my relatives before seeing the movie was only about the prospects of hell and not all being saved. From a purely spiritual position according to what Ray taught us about both subjects, and putting aside the obvious spurious portrayals, I couldn't help smiling as we left the theater.  Thanks, Bob

Why do we always, in our arrogance, try to limit God to working within the boundaries that we set up within our own minds?  Can He not, in His infinite wisdom, use whatever or whomever He wants to teach and reach those whom He chooses?  God chose to use just two points from this book to completely CHANGE my life.  Those two points were the concepts of "hell" and "universal reconciliation".

So many people get completely caught up in finding the "errors" of the faith (their faith, not God's) that they miss any good that might be included in the message.  For instance....... I hear many people who absolutely condemn the portrayal of God the "Father" as a woman in the book and movie, but here's what I got from it........

The woman first showed up as the kind neighbor lady who knew what was going on in the boy's life.  She understood the turmoil and trauma he was involved in at home, and reached out to him with unconditional love.  She chose to do this even though it was in no way required of her and basically had nothing to do with her.

I don't know about any of you, but that comes across to me as God portraying Himself to a troubled soul as someone who loves him unconditionally and cares about him greatly, just like the woman did in his youth.  When he questioned the appearance of God as a woman, she remarked that she (God) didn't think he (the man) was capable of seeing God as a "fatherly" figure (because of the stormy relationship he had with his earthly father).

I know God has always reached out to me in ways that I could relate to, and I see this portrayal of God as doing the same thing in this man's life.  To me, that shows His ultimate love.  In fact the MAIN point I got from reading the book, and watching the movie was not the rebuttal of the "hell message" or the message of "universal reconciliation" or the many "violations of the word of God", but I came away with a much better understanding of God's overwhelming message of unconditional LOVE, not only for me, but for ALL of His creation.

I thank God that He used this book and movie in that way in my life.  I would like to take hundreds of people to see this movie if only He would reveal the same to them!!!!!!!  Sorry, I can't find fault with any of that.

Bob:
AMEN

John from Kentucky:
All of the talk about this Satan inspired book and movie, brings to mind a Scripture from Amos 8:11.

"Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord GOD,
That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the LORD."
