What is the Greatest thing Jesus said?
« on: October 20, 2017, 07:06:39 AM »

All -

This is my favourite saying of Jesus:

Matthew 20:34-40 (KJV):

34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Is there any Greater saying of Jesus?

Warmest Regards.

I don't know if it's "greater", but it covers a lot of ground:

Joh 16:12  I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Heb 10:32  But you must continue to remember those earlier days, how after you were enlightened you endured a hard and painful struggle.

This is in the top ten for me:

"And I, if I should be exalted out of the earth, shall be drawing all to Myself." John 12:32

So much to choose from, this one came to mind;

Luke 12:8-Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

Mat 13:11  He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

I especially love the gospel of John because Jesus says so many wonderful things.  Here is just one of my favorites:

John 14:6 - ...I am the way, and the truth, and the life: No one, cometh unto the Father, but through me.

Dennis and I are like minded on this I think.

"Matthew 13: 17...For truly I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see these things which you see, and have not seen them; and to hear these things which you hear, and have not heard them".

Ray said it best in his paper on Twelve God Given Truths...
I doubt that many of my readers are comprehending the marvelous truth contained in this passage and others where Jesus spoke on this subject.

Quoting Ray, "The prophets themselves (even Isaiah himself), desired to see these things, but did not See them". Adding to the magnificence of this blessing...
"These things are for those who came after Christ and not before".

To be given such a marvelous and amazing gift, a gift nothing could compare with, makes me feel rich beyond all measure. I feel blessed to be living in such an important time, even though madness is unfolding all around me.

I know with all my heart, faith and might I can rely on the precious gift Jesus left us all with...
John 14:27  "Peace I leave to you my peace I give to you, not according as the world doth give do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled nor let it be afraid".

To me this is the greatest thing He ever said!

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.  ISA 45:22

As Ray says: The LORD GOD of the Old Testament is the Lord Jesus of the New Testament.
