Hi Mike
I was listening to one of Rays audios last night, sorry can’t remember which one but he
mentioned the poor in Spirit to be about mourning. I did a little study on it and found
it to be about genuine sorrow , mourning and grief.
Matt 5:3
Blessed are the pour in Spirit, for there’s is the kingdom of heaven.
4-Blessed are they that mourn, for they will be comforted.
2 Corth.7:10
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret but worldly sorrow
brings death.
Psalm 119:136
Streams of tears flow from my eyes for your law is not obeyed.
Psalm 51:4
Against you, you only have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight.
Ezekiel 9:4
And said to him” go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads
of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.
John 16:20-21
Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve but your grief will turn to joy.
John 20:22
So with you , Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice and no one
will take away your joy.
Rev. 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, or mourning, or crying or pain, for the old order of things have passed away.
When I read the Beatitudes I see that the poor in Spirit are meek, they hunger and thirst for righteousness, are merciful, pure in heart, will see God,are peacemaking children of God who will
be persecuted because of righteousness and leads to Matt 5:11
Blessed are you when people insult you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
There is much more of course but I’m glad you brought this up today. I now have a better
understanding of genuine sorrow and why I’m always crying 😢 It’s all genuine love for our
Beautiful Lord God and His goodness.
In Christ,,,Pamela
