Please pray that I may overcome porn

Anjel Uriel:
Hello brothers and sisters, sorry I haven't replied to all the messages you all have sent me, I have never been that type of friendliness so to be honest it kinda freaked me out a bit. I'm writing to you all because I need you to pray for me. I have made great progress in the path of The Lord but I keep stumbling and falling to pornography and masturbation. I just can't stop and most of the time I fall when temptation arises. Even when The Lord gives me His strength and I resist for a little while, when I fall back I feel I'm deeper in this hole than I was before. I don't even enjoy doing it, I get pleasure for maybe at max 5 minutes then feel shame and a sense of condemnation for the rest of the day and the next. The worst thing is I know it's wrong but when the urges come is like I don't care, then mid act I'll think "what am I doing? This is wickedness, I'm sorry Lord and Father" but then I feel like I'm too deep in or the urge is too strong so I continue then when I finish the guilt hits like a truck. I don't know if there is a difference between sinning willfully like it says in Hebrews 10:26 or having an addiction to a certain lust of the flesh and eyes; but regardless, it makes me feel condemned and like I won't ever overcome it, no matter what. I have watched Ray's video "I can't stop sinning" countless times and honestly it has gotten to the point where I feel so enslaved by this sin that when he said "God is calling you and God is choosing you" doesn't apply to me because I feel I have given in too much. It is written that righteousness comes from God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, Romans 3:22 and that the prayer of a righteous man has great power James 5:16 therefore since you all believe in Jesus and are considered righteous then please pray that God will allow me to overcome this sin and all my other transgression so that I may inherit eonian life and be called a child of God.

The guilt is of God (Romans 3:19, James 2:10).

The condemnation can be of God and/or our own conscience, but it also can come from the devil after you have confessed the sin. (We are not unaware of his schemes).

I know this is very painful, but these are all working for your good, that you learn how to resist the lust and to make you sick of it, eventually lead you to repentance.

Sometimes, repentance of a particular sin can be a long process (Matthew 18:21-22).

Part of the lesson God is teaching us with the difficulty to overcome sins, is that we cannot ever do it by ourselves
We need the strength that only God can provide through His spirit to be only partly successful.
When we are resurrected and receive our new body we will no longer have the temptations of the flesh that we now endure and then we will truly appreciate the gift of life that God alone can give us, free from works.

Rhys 🕊:
Whatever the area is once you get sick and tired of it enough you don't want to go back to it as it just brings your down time and time again.

If you keep punching yourself in the face you will get to the point when you have had enough.

I was watching a video of Ray last night and he talked about having a clear conscience which is a great thing to have when you wake up in the morning. I can testify that to be 100% true. I've been through enough and want God's peace and more of Him in my life.

Like me God has you on a journey and He will bring you to your knees in His time and give the strength to get back up and move on to what He has in store for you.

I agree with the counsel given by the members so far Anjel, here's a little more.

Ray once used the analogy of going through boot camp as compared to our walk on the narrow path with Christ. I think it's quite fitting because it's supposed to be hard. You may even fall a few times or get ďwoundedĒ along the way, or come across a gigantic mountain that seems impossible to pass. However, simply by ďseeking His righteousnessĒ through doing the right thing and doing good, the Spirit of God is with you.

By the way, no one is righteous, and we all sin. We are all going through the same things you are going through, Anjel. The ďrighteous manĒ that prays is Jesus, and He is praying for us. Keep walking with Jesus by doing good and doing right until you stop sinning; however long that may take.

Rom 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

If you haven't already, check this paper out. It's a great compliment to the ďI can't stop sinningĒ paper.

No matter how hard these things are they are benefits, all of this doing of this stuff is called OVERCOMING.  I have a lot of stuff to overcome yet.

Here is an interesting thing. You live a while and you overcome certain sins. God gives you the victory over them and you feel good about that. Then your conscience is clean, because you can look back yesterday and you know in your heart and mind you were not flagrantly, willingly, willfully, knowingly sinning, practicing sin. You were trying to do whatís right, you are getting in the habit and the routine of doing whatís right.

Then low and behold you have to do it all over again. How so? God sends a bigger trial, bigger. What happens? Well with the same capacity of spirituality that you had yesterday and was making progress, itís not enough to beat this trial today, itís not enough. If you donít get help from someplace, then you are going down. Is this a secret to any of you? Itís like whoa, I thought we were doing pretty good when I wiped out some of those other hurdles, you know (I kind of amuse myself with God sometimes). I thought that was a pretty good victory there. Now itís not some strange thing from outer space, itís the same trials you always have. Paul says;

1Peter 4:12  Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

These are things that are common, these are common to humanity, they just get bigger. I could deal with that, but now God hits me with this and this amount of spirituality from yesterday isnít going to take care of this problem today. Thatís what it means when we have to grow in grace and knowledge. Grace trains us, now youíve got to grow in your training.

Itís like you go to boot camp, in army they call it basic training. Why is it basic? Because what you do the first week gets harder the second week and the third and forth. It gets harder, but you get good at doing the stuff that was hard on the first day. Now they give you stuff thatís harder yet.

Low and behold if you should ever want to be an officer. Boy they really put the thumb screws to you then. I use to just hang around the corner in Fort Knox, Kentucky and watch. They would be training officers out on the grounds and I would just watch and I would pretend, could I take that kind of harassment and physical excursion, if I were trying to be an officer. Itís pretty tough, pretty tough stuff.

So itís all overcoming. Paul likens this to overcoming and John wrote the first three chapters of Revelation, ďTo him that overcomes.Ē

Repenting of your past sins, accepting Jesus as your Saviour and receiving Godís Spirit does not pronounce you ďSAVED.Ē It is not the conclusion of your spiritual life, but rather the very beginning.

What Paul did is called ďovercoming,Ē and itís the hardest thing in life to do, but the rewards are high. A few fringe benefits are:

Access to the TREE OF LIFE, which means you will be given immortality, never die again or fear death or worry about death.

You avoid THE SECOND DEATH, which is not only the second death spiritually, but all the judgment and stuff that goes with it. Why? Because you are judged now, if you are judged here you donít need to be judged and condemned with the world later.

You get a NEW NAME, this means a lot of things, but itís like you have to believe in the name and the name is everything that it represents and not just a new name, a better name.

POWER over the nation.

RIGHTEOUS garments, which mean we will be clothed in a perfect attitude, perfect righteousness.
