No Way Out

<< < (3/3)

How are you doing Porter? Are you home yet? I hope you are doing better.💕

I saw the eye surgeon this morning and he gave me good news and bad news.
I don’t need surgery but I have macular degeneration.
I thought my new cataract lens slipped . I have to see a specialist but not for a year
so they said it’s a slow process before blindness. Hopefully and with prayer it won’t
get worse too fast. Praise God , all glory to our Lord Jesus who will see us through .

God Bless You All

--- Quote from: Porter on January 09, 2023, 03:04:39 AM ---Hey all, I hate to keep asking for prayers, and I feel as though I should be taking it “like a man” or whatever. Yet, here I am.

I got sent to the emergency room again the other day for an afib attack. I was sleeping when I felt my heart going out of whack, so when I got up, I began hyperventilating or was short of breath. Told my wife to call the ambulance, and they ended up sending me out on a Med-Evac plane to go to the hospital.

I've known for over a year that I have Graves Disease which causes Hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism can have negative effects on the bodily organs if not kept under control. Not to mention, it causes a lot of anxiety and mood swings. The overproduction of certain hormones are no joke.

I stopped taking my anti-thyroid meds almost a year ago due to the side effects. After speaking with the doctor, I now fully understand I could die if this is left untreated. So now I'm back on the anti-thyroid meds (surprise!) and I have elected to undergo ablation of the thyroid through the use of “nuclear medicine”.

Part of the reason for making this post is to express the extreme anxiety I feel when my thyroid is going nuts. It's a proper thyroid storm when my heart is involved. I hate it because I can't control it. After a few weeks, the anti-thyroid meds will kick in and bring the hormones down to a safer level. The catch is the nearly intolerable pain that comes with the meds. Then again, I'm a bit of a wimp. Which is why I want them to shrink my thyroid.

I'll be ok, no matter what happens. I just want you all to know that you'll be ok too. Not only that, but I think of you all constantly, and you're always in my prayers.

Hi Porter,

I understand what you are going through my friend.  God puts us through some very frightening situations.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  These scriptures always brought me comfort and I pray the same for you:

Psalm 34:19
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Psalm 107:4-9
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way;
They found no city to dwell in.
5 Hungry and thirsty,
Their soul fainted in them.
6 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He delivered them out of their distresses.
7 And He led them forth by the right way,
That they might go to a city for a dwelling place.
8 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For He satisfies the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Hi Wendy, yes, I'm home now. Graves Disease also causes bulging, itchy and burning eyes, so I can relate to your eye problems to a lesser level. I've thought about what it might be like to go blind, and that'd be hard to deal with. My wife is blind in one eye and I always worry about her driving, lol. She almost got ran over by a dump truck while driving our snowmobile once because she didn't see the truck due to that one blind eye.

Thanks for the verses, ralph, I'm so looking forward to that day. :)
