Watch and Prepare verses
arion:
1Ti 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
Pro 6:6-8 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
Pro 20:4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
Also Gen 41 with Pharoah's dream and Joseph's interpretation of the dream culminating in this;
Gen 41:33-36 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years. And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
There is actually quite a bit in the scriptures about being prepared and preparing.
zvezda:
Luke 12:35 Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning,
Luke 12:36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.
Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
2 Peter 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
To recap:
- watch, stay alert
- pray always
- be dressed ready, keep your lamps burning
- love one another
- anticipate and hasten (desire earnestly) the coming of the day of God
- remember what you heard and received (remember the teaching you were given and heard)
- repent
But all ten virgins (both the wise and foolish) did fall asleep while waiting, it's strange that the wise five didn't stay alert.
Noah prepared an ark (a safe haven) for his family and all the beasts, I think Ray and Dennis also prepared the spiritual ark, aka bible-truths.com, for us beasts :)

As long as a person has prepared faithfully it is alright to sleep, because when you awake to answer the call it will be with joy and not with dread.

1Pe 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”

1Co 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
