hello friends,
Surgery was more involved than I imagined for such a simple process of "trimming" the enlarged prostate gland that was obstructing urine flow. I thought it would be a simple outpatient procedure and was surprised to learn that I got the whole journey of traveling on my gurney down the winding hallways and into the fully staffed operating theater with a five person crew of technicians waiting to prepare me and put me to sleep. Of course my physician Adam Perlmutter was there with his special instruments.
It can all seem quite frightening if one is not prepared and ready for whatever happens as I think that I was.
Woke up in recovery and spent the next 12 hours having my bladder flushed with about ten gallons of salt water. This was to keep the bladder expanded so the exposed bladder capillaries didn't flex and slow the healing process. After four days I am still discharging bits of tissue and lack normal control of elimination processes.
Fortunately for me I have plenty of in home help to assist with normal daily routine to care for myself and my wife.
I have four children age 53 to 61 who all understand the truth of God's plan for mankind and we are able to get along just fine regarding faith issues.
Thank you all for your concerns and kind thoughts.
You are greatly appreciated, ole Bob
