Do Not Worry
« on: April 07, 2023, 02:34:10 PM »

Not so long ago, I was much weaker in faith and plagued by anxiety and fear. These words from our Lord always brought me great comfort. They still do. He's kept his promise.  I've never been without these things, not once. What a great provider he is.

Matthew 6:25-34

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Hi Ralph

Being one who has recently been plagued by so much fear and anxiety myself, I appreciate this reminder.
This has always been one of my most favourite go to scripture text of all time. And it's proven true over and over again. He IS afterall faithful, even when we are not.
Thank again,
Matty

Thank you  Ralph.

Isaiah 25:9•••• It will be said on that day, “ Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, that He might save us. This is the Lord, we have waited for Him; let us be
glad and rejoice in His salvation.
Praise God , come Lord Jesus. Praise Our Holy Lord.
Amen.

You are all most welcome.  I don't want to give the impression that I have overcome fear and anxiety.  Not even close.  But I am certainly not as bad as I was.  It's a process.  Our carnal mind dies a little more each day when God is working in us. Much love to you all. God Bless.

Yes, thank you, Pamela. I appreciate that! I am not too concerned about finding a place to live. God has moved us ten times in the past 20 years, and although it's stressful, we've always had a roof over our heads. I was looking for suggestions on places to relocate based on the group's experience. Outside of NY, I've only lived in Georgia, so I don't have much to go on. I would love to be your neighbor!   :)

Hi folks,

I cannot say that I am no longer afraid at times.  :(
=
However several years ago God gave me the understanding that God is micro-managing everything. It is all scripted to work out exactly as God planned from the beginning.
=
God leaves nothing to chance.
God does not see into the future to learn what will happen.
God causes everything to happen according to His pleasure.
So Paul's admonition to not worry about what I cannot change was God's gift to me.  :)
