6,000 years ???
(1/1)
seaofglass:
According to Biblical context one day is as 1000 years.
2nd Pet 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing: that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
As per Ray understanding each day in Genesis creation equates to 1000 years. Which makes a lot of sense considering simple logic of trees growing timeframe; words used to describe the creation. Sprouting takes time we agree.
Now from Genesis to Jesus is about 4 years according to biblical context and timeline.
From death of Jesus till now is about 2,000.
Question: From Adam to today, plus the creaton time, about how many years are we talking about 13,000, 14,000 till today?

Hi seaofglass, I’m reading Mobile Conference 2009 from the
Challenges on what Ray teaches.
I came across this and I’m quoting Ray .
2 Peter,,, 3:8… that one day (24 hrs.) ,is with the Lord as a thousand years and
a thousand years as one day.
So is the thousand years the definition of the word day? Are you following me?
No, it’s not the definition of a day but the Bible uses that example—— it’s LIKE a thousand years.( caps mine)
End of quote. I’m not well versed on this subject but this teaching that I’m reading
here from this paper is awesome. For sure ,, day is not a twenty four hour period.
Is like and as , the same ?IDK but I will check it out.
I don’t know if this helps . I hope so. Keep digging.
God Bless You
In Christ, Pamela

According to science, the universe is around 13.8 billion years old. The earth is around 4 billion years old. Mankind in general has been around for 200,000 years. From Adam until Jesus walked the earth as a man is 4000 years. From Jesus until now is around 2000 years.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Ray agree with the science? Or perhaps I'm just misunderstanding you seaofglass, forgive me if that is the case. My personal knowledge in this area is limited.
The fun part was trying to figure out the spiritual significance of it all. I have some ideas thanks to Ray's papers. However, the kicker was the realization that the thousand years is mentioned so that we can know when we are in that thousand years. That is because that thousand years is also like a “watch in the night”.
Psa 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
