Jesus in hades
« on: June 20, 2026, 07:15:24 PM »

I don’t know if Ray ever talked about this. - It’s 1 Peter 4-“  But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.“.     PEople use chapter 4 to back up their belief that Jesus went and talked to people in Hades Before he was raised from the dead . But this verse has me a little perplexed . Any thoughts ?

6. For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead

There were people that had the gospel preached to them while they were still alive but who are now dead.

God's Word translation:
After all, the Good News was told to people like that, although they are now dead. It was told to them so that they could be judged like humans in their earthly lives and live like God in their spiritual lives.
