Angels Who Sinned?
« on: August 31, 2006, 11:42:22 AM »

1 Peter 2:3-5
3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell ( I believe this should be translated “Tartarus”…)[/b] and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;

Not sure if Ray speaks on this subject in the LOF series, I’ll be looking… just curious if anyone knows anywhere else in scripture that references “angels who sinned”?

Thanks in Advance for Your Help

In Psalms there are evil angels spoken of,

Psa 78:49  He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.

There is this in Revelation;

Rev 12:7  And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

Rev 12:8  And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

Rev 12:9  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Greetings in the Name of our LORD.

from CL.

1 Yet there came to be false prophets also among the people,((((  here is the subject))))) as among you also there will be false teachers who will be smuggling in destructive sects, even disowning the Owner Who buys them, bringing on themselves swift destruction.
2 And many will be following out their wantonness, because of whom the glory of the truth will be calumniated,
3 and in greed, with suave words, they will traffic in you, whose judgment of old is not idling, and their destruction is not nodding.
4 For if God spares not sinning messengers, but thrusting them into the gloomy caverns of Tartarus, gives them up to be kept for chastening judging;
5

how many "messengers" today start out with good intentions and then turn to greed and lust?

2Ti 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

just turn on the TV.

for me peter is not talking about angelic beings but rather  those false teachers among us.

but woohooo!!!

1Cr 11:19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

grace to you all

Job 4:17-19

17Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?

 18Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:

 19How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?

Any comments on this scripture?

Yes,

Job 4:17  Shall mortal man be more just than God?,  shall a man be more pure than his maker?

Job 4:18  Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels4397 he charged with folly:

Job 4:19  How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth? (KJV)

H4397
מלאך
mal'âk
mal-awk'
From an unused root meaning to despatch as a deputy; a messenger; specifically of God, that is, an angel (also a prophet, priest or teacher): - ambassador, angel, king, messenger.

Job 4:18 Lo! <in his own servants > he trusteth not, And <his own messengers> he chargeth with error: (Rotherham's)

Would we as parents burn our children in a hell hole of eternal fire for mistakes, for transgressions, for immaturity? Why do His servants (messengers, the clergy of the denominations) teach that our Lord and His Father will do just that? What is their motivation?

Does mortal man have more compassion for mankind than God? Does God approve of what His so called messengers are teaching about Him?

What does it say about the flock that believes this heresy without searching for His Truths, that are comfortable letting a man in the pulpit blasphemy the Lord and His Father, the very entity of love? They are lukewarm, without a passion for knowing Him.

This is the height of satanic deception,

His Peace and Wisdom to you,

Joe

Thanks Joe Rotherham's translation makes it more clear.
