What is god's purpose for creating each of us?
eggi:
Hi Sorin,
I understand your question, but I disagree with you when you say that God doesn't have a purpose for aborted babies and siamese twins. If they didn't have a purpose, then why did God Almighty create them? Were they just an unfortunate accident?
Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me;
declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure;
calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country; yea, I have spoken, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed, I will also do it. (Isa 46:9-11 ASV)
To me this verse includes everything in God's creation, even aborted babies and people with physical disabilities.
There is a good purpose to everything:
For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboreth?
I have seen the travail which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised therewith.
He hath made everything beautiful in its time: also he hath set eternity in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end. (Ecc 3:1-11 ASV)
It's hard to grasp that there is a purpose to all the evil and suffering. This is all here to humble us.
And as he passed by, he saw a man blind from his birth.
And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he should be born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither did this man sin, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. (Joh 9:1-3)
Isn't this also speaking about aborted babies? Will not the works of God be made manifest in them?
I hope this wasn't sugarcoated. I completely understand what you are saying when you refer to explanations given by the Church. I once heard a sermon saying that aborted babies were all going to hell, for their parents sins. Talk about heresy...
Unlike God, they don't know the beginning AND the end!
But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?
The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:
but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Co 15:54-57 ASV)
God bless you and keep you,
Eirik

Hi Sorin
I enjoy how you think Eggi....to add.....
I have always felt cautioned by these words
....1 Cor 13 : 12 " For now we ( Who?....) are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim, blurred reflection of reality as in a riddle or enigma, (there is nothing wrong with you Sorin for spotting this enigma) but then when perfection comes ( STILL AHEAD!) we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I KNOW IN PART, IMPERFECTLY but THEN (WHEN?....THEN!)...I shall know and understand fully and clearly even in the same manner as I have been fully and clearly known and understood by GOD ( NOT MAN....BY GOD!)
I believe Paul also counted himself in the following. ( Was Paul contradicting himself? To the carnal mind a contradiction is evident because it is the Spirit of God who knows and reveals the things of God not the carnal mind of reason, logic or proof. We see in part..(Why would that be do you think? Is it because we are yet still carnal?...Any thoughts here as Eggi would put it 8))......some see the bigger picture as certainly is evidenced by Ray who expounds, teaches, preaches and brings us a special message! Eph 4 :11.."...He Himself (CHRIST) appointed and gave men to us, some to be apostles (special messengers) some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders) some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries) some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers.
1 Cor 2 :10..." Yet to us...(Who?)...God has unveiled and revealed them by and through His Spirit, for the Holy Sprit searches diligently, exploring and examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God, the divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man's scrutiny"
I see your open honesty with what you are experiencing in not knowing yet Sorin. It is painful to want to know and to know you don't. Take that as God working on you to perform HIS WILL....That is why I think you are here Sorin. To learn, just like all of us... Even Paul wrote....
2 Cor 3:18..." And ALL OF US, as with unveiled face, because we continued to behold in the Word of God as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into HIS (not our own) very own image and in every increasing spleandor and from one degree (painfully one degree at a time!....No quantam leaps here!.....3 Years in Damascus!)...of glory (His glory) to another; for this comes from the Lord Who is the Spirit...."
Glad you enjoyed my Poem...I wrote that one in 1983....!
I really enjoyed Kennymac's poem on the Poem Thred....it relates to this Topic. 8)
Also in Ray's e-mail responces today addressing Marc....Ray writes the following that says what I can not say and shows what I am still learning.....Just enough thought given to the following is enough to make me feel like gob-smaked Job did.....! :D
" .......Jesus knows those who are His. We don't. We hope. We believe....He has not told any of us for an absolute certainty that we will not fall or fail. There are those whom God will predestine to start out doing His will but who will be presestined before the end of their lives to fail. That is why God has given us such Scriptures as Heb 10:26-29 and 1 Cor 9 : 27....."
As you reflect upon and ponder the teachings on this site Sorin....may you with increasing, degree by degree... reverential awe of God, continue to realise HIS Greatness and as the scripture says...May you continue to behold in the word of God the Glory of the Lord....
Arcturus :)....in training....knowing in part....imperfectly.....in thanks and gratitude to God :)
