Salvation Verses
« on: November 01, 2006, 10:33:39 AM »

 Hi Ray,

Is 1 John 1:8 & 9 for believers to confess their sins and restore
fellowship with God when they sin or are these salvation verses that
are not to be used by believers to keep short accounts with God?

Thanks,
Jay

Dear Jay:
We do not loose our fellowship with God when we sin. Not unless
you just want to live a life of sin and turn your back on God. We all
sin (miss the mark) and we all need to repent and ask God to enable
us to not do those things, but we don't loose fellowship with God.

I am not sure what "salvation verses" are. All Scripture is profitable
to us, but I am not sure what you mean by salvation verses. I John
1:8-9 certainly applies to us as long as we live in spite of the fact
that a few from time to time believe that they have reached spiritual
perfection in human form.

It is important to understand that God is our Father, and Jesus is our
Elder Brother and Friend.  If you attitude is that of love and obedience,
don't worry about the fact that your walk is not always total perfection.
We are learning. Now if you stop learning and stop obeying, and become
totally lax in your spiritual life, then there certainly would be cause for worry.

God be with you,
Ray
