God's Body
« on: November 05, 2006, 11:27:23 AM »

HELLO Sir!

I READ ARTICLEs ON YOUR WEBSITE AND CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE ANSWERS. I AM HAVING TROUBLE REFUTING THIS PERSON AND HE SEEMS VERY CONVINCING WITH THE SCRIPTURES THAT GOD HAS A BODY. THIS IS WHAT HE WROTE:

Exodus 33:11; The Lord speak to Moses FACE TO FACE, AS A MAN SPEAKS WITH HIS FRIEND. The people saw a couldy pillar, Moses saw God, or this Scripture is meaningless.
"Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live," The whole passage must be considered, not only this one verse. Verse 11 says that "The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaketh with a friend." This alone proves Moses saw God with his eyes. In verse 18 Moses asked to see God in ALL HIS GLORY. Moses had already seen God as God allowed him to see Himsel. But Then Moses asked God to  "SHEW ME THY GLORY," and it was this that God said could not be granted. Paul states that God dwells "IN THE LIGHT WHICH NO MAN CAN APPROACH UNTO; whom no man hath seen, nor can see" (1 Tim. 6:16). It was THIS GLORY, not God's face God said He could not grant Moses to see. God could not grant Moses the request to see Him in ALL OF HIS GLORY, but He did permit Moses to see His "back parts (vs. 18:23), but could not see God's glory as expressed in His countenance.
God appeared to Isaac and confirmed the Abrahamic covenant with him, as is clear from Gen. 26:2-4. Verse2 states. "the Lord appeared again to Isaac. reminding him of the covenant (Gen.26:24).
He appeared to Jacob and confirmed the Abrahamic covenant with him (Gen. 28:12-15 with 35:1).
God wrestled with Jacob bodily as seen in Gen. 32:24-32. That this was a bodily appearence of God is proved in verse 30 where Jacob said;
"I HAVE SEEN GOD FACE TO FACE, AND MY LIFE IS PRESERVED"
God the Father has a spirit body.
Where in the Word does it declare that The Word had a spirit body, prior to the incarnation? Lets see
"God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and truth (John 4:24). God has a spirit body, and a personal soul, and a personal spirit as these Scriptures show, or they are all meaningless. Read (Job. 13:8; Heb. 1:3; Dan.7:-14; 10:5-7; Ezek. 1:26-28; John 5:37; Rev. 4:2-4; 5:1-7; Acts 7:54-59). God has a soul (Heb. 10:38; Isa. 42:1), spirit (Ps. 143:10; Isa. 30:1), hands and fingers (Ex. 31:18; Ps. 8:3-6; Rev. 5:1-7), hair, face, and other bodily parts (Dan.7:9-14; 10:5-19; Ex. 24:10; 33:20-23; Ezek. 1:26-28). God lives in a city and sits on a throne (John 14:1-3; Rev. 4:1-5; 21:1-27; 22:3-5, He walks (Gen. 18:1-22, 33), he rides upon cherubs, in chariots and other things Ps. 18:10; 104:3; Ezek 1;1-28), and He can and does do anything man can do whom He created in His IMAGE and LIKENESS."
And the second;
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word WAS WITH GOD, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." (John 1:1-2).
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (John 1:14). And now you are building an argument about the invisibility of God?

CAN YOU HELP ME OUT?

GOD BLESS,
JAMES

Dear James:
Certainly.
People often fail to understand even the physical aspects of the Scriptures simply because they do not follow or believe the principles and declarations in the Scriptures. What good does it do to argue all the Scriptures which speak of the hair, head, eyes, ears, face, mouth, arms, hands, fett, etc., "of the LORD," and then be totally ignorant of Who the "LORD" really is, and who the FATHER really is?

Is the LORD [Jehovah} of the Old Testament the God and Father of Jesus Christ?  Absolutely NOT.

Notice what Jesus said concerning His God and His Father:  "...NO MAN knows the the Son, but the Father, NEITHER knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will REVEAL HIM" (Matt. 11:27 & Luke 10:22).  Now then, with that in mind:  "NO MAN has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, HE has declared [unfoled or interpreted] Him" (John 1:18). Did Jesus lie?  Did Moses indeed see "God the FATHER?"  Not according to the Scriptures:  not according to Jesus His Son.  Did the Apostles know anything about the Father of Jesus?  "Philip said unto Him, Lord show US [all of us] the  Father, and it suffices US" (John 14:8).

The "LORD--Elohim/Jehovah/God" of the Old Testament was Jesus Christ, not Jesus' Father. And God the Father is SPIRIT (John 4:24), and INVISIBLE (Col. 1:15).

God is SPIRIT (John 4:24)
God is INVISIBLE (Col. 1:15)
No man has seen God (John 1:18)
No man ever heard God or seen His shape [Gk: 'nor a perception of Him have you seen]" (John 5:37)
Jesus came out from God (Rev. 2:14;  John 8:42;  16:28;  17:5, 8, 24, Col. 1:13;  etc.)
Jesus is THE LORD/Jehovah of the Old Testament (John 8:58;  I Cor. 10;4;  etc.)
Jesus IS A MAN (I Thes. 2:15).
God is NOT A MAN (Num. 23:19).
Etc., etc., etc.

The above Scriptures don't contradict any Scriptures. The above arguments of your friend contradict hundreds of Scriptures.
God be with you,
Ray
