God's will and your life

TRUTHSEEKER:
Hello Everyone,

I haven't posted a topic to be discussed in this forum as of yet. But because of my desire to learn how God is operating in your lives I write.  The question that I pose to the forum is how has God revealed his plan to you concerning your life?  I am curious because for some time now (about two years) I've been wrestling with this.  It has been a mental pinpong of sorts in trying to learn what God's will is for my life as concerning a career.  I am currently active duty in the armed forces (NAVY). I've enjoyed my time thus far.  But, I'm at a cross roads at this point because I'm not fully satisfied with what I'm doing.  I feel that God has great things in store for me but have absolutely no idea of the path he wants me to go in order to get to what he's planned for me.  I read the bible and see how God called many people in my predicament.  I noticed a common trend.  Noone that God called had a desire to know what God wanted of them before God made it known to them.  I think of Moses in the backside of the desert tending sheep when God called him to be the deliverer of Israel.  God called Gideon at a point in his life when he didn't even think that he could perform the tasks that God had for him to fulfill when God called him a mighty man of valor.  Saul/Paul was doing anything but seeking God when God sought him.  They all were ignorant to the call of God until God called them.  I'm actively praying and seeking God for what he wants to do with my life and He remains silent.  I will continue to trust Him for strength and guidance. What are your thoughts?

buddyjc:
God's will is easy.  It's 'Don't eat the fruit.'  I used to ponder what God's will was for my life, but He has since caused me to realize that His will is to be obedient to Him.  I don't worry anymore about tomorrow.  I live for 'right now.'  If you are obedient to God, His plan for you will take shape as you live out your life for Him.  Stay focused on Christ, the 'author and finisher of your faith.'  Christ is our example to follow, so just imitate Him.

Gal. 2:20; Col. 1:25-27

God's Blessings,
Brian

Nancy:
Hi there Truthseeker and buddyjc,

Truthseeker, i have wrestled with this question of what is God's Will in my life ever since i can remember. It has been a frustrating one as i never seem to get the answer.  i was always trying this and that, thinking that this was the right path to take.  i just ended up in circles.
Surely if you believe in free will then this will be the consequence.
Buddyjc, you said that if you are obedient to God, His plan will take shape in your life.  If God is operating all after the counsel of His Will and creating vessels of honour and dishonour, then even if you are disobedient you are following God's Will.  Did the King of Assyria think he was doing God's Will in going against Israel?  Of course not, nor did Osama bin laden and so on. But they were and are now.
We should be at peace and just live our lifes and not try to outthink God.  i say this not as a criticism as i am guilty of doing this myself.
If there is no such thing as free will and scripture doesn't support it, then everything is happening exactly as it should.
God bless
Nancy

That's right Nancy.  Whatever your life is right now is God's will.  If you are 45 years old and tomorrow is your 46th birthday, then you have lived God's will for 45 years.  Press on to the future believing and praying God gives you the faith and courage to step out in Christ and realize that at whatever moment you are exactly where God meant for you to be and keep looking ahead with no condemnation for what is behind.  You are in God's will believe it and live it.
God Bless all

Great answer CIY :)

But I can certainly see where TRUTHSEEKER is coming from. For surely, even those most evil walking the Earth today are doing so because of God's will.

Is this enough? The murderers, adulterators, thieves, etc are living according to God's will. But, once again, is this enough?

Of course living as such will not prevent one from being saved, for Christ died not to judge the world but to save it.

Jhn 12:47
* And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
But let's get down to basics, there is no middle ground concerning good and evil.

Deu 30:15
* See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

I guess everyone knows that actions speak louder than words, but God see's past even the actions to the motive. Wow! How fair is this, he see's the motive behind my every action because "He put it there!"

Yes, this is certainly true. But God also gave us a 'conscience.' That little voice in the back of your mind than let's you know when you are about to do something you know is not right, and the one that causes you to feel bad, having done it.

Paul instructed Timothy to have a "good" conscience.

1Ti 1:18-19
* This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
* Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

Are we not to have the same? Perhaps this is not exactly what you were looking for TRUTHSEEKER, but I believe it is a wonderful "barometer," that indicates very well our walk with God.

I believe this point is often overlooked in favor of "If God is with me, who can be against me?" (I think I have said that a time or two myself) But I believe that this is an unequal paradox, because although God is always walking with me, does not and cannot mean that I am always walking with him.

Now here is the question; if we walk past a brother begging on the street and do nothing other than thinki: "Thank God that he will be saved!" Are we pleasing God?

Of course not. :)

Mat 25:45
* Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of the least of these, ye did [it] not to me.

Oh boy, am I so pretentious? or is simply God causing me to be that way. Perhaps for that split second we have total control over our "future" (not saying that God doesn't know what we will decide) and depending on the choice we make, we either feel good or not. Remember what Paul said about having a "good conscience."

I have not the slightest idea what God has planned for me, my only prayer for myself is that my steps fall closer and closer to his and stay there. I believe we all know where are concerning "our" walk with God, so is their really any question regarding his plans for our life?

I hope that helps a little, comments are always welcome.

I have been away for 3 or so weeks, did anyone miss me? :)

I missed you all,

Love,

Darren
