    Names like Peter, James, John, Mathew.... these do not sound like Jewish names. How did what sounds like me to English names ever git into the Bible?

    Nope, it's the other way around. Those Jewish "Bible" names GOT INTO THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

    PS   My great great great great great Grandfather was Jacob; his son was Abraham;  His son was Isaac;  His son was Emanuel;  his son was Timothy; His son was Thomas;  HIs son was Charles [oops] and his son (my father) was David.
