Anybody Knows About The Book of Jasher?
« on: December 20, 2006, 04:24:08 PM »

Joshua 10:13
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

2 Samuel 1:18
(Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)

Is this only relates the book of Genesis?  I thought it was a song book?? Referring to King David songs? Maybe I was wrong? What you think?

Thanks Chuckt for the link.

I'm not sure when I will get time to read it, but I find it fasinating reading other texts that correlate with the Scripture.

Thanks,

Victoria,

I have a copy that was given to me but never read it.

From  the little feedback that I have received from
close friends, it is my observation that most people do
NOT believe it to be the inspired word of God, along
with the Apocrypha. I can't say whether it is or isn't,
because I don't know.

That's my ten cents. (Hey! The value of the dollar
has fallen!)

Be Well,

Hi Victoria,

In my search for truth I have come across information presented from the book of Jasher. The information that I was exposed to was interesting and appears to give more detail on some of the biblical accounts, however I have not read the book. Personally, I am not comfortable reading other material and do not consider any source outside of the bible to be the inspired word of God. That very well could be foolishness on my part, but that is where I am for now.

God bless,

Good Morning Victoria,

Here's Ray's comment from his website:

My name is Michael,

I'd like to find out about the book of Jasher written twice in the bible. I know there are 66 books but why would they talk about this book which is in the bible. Is it incomplete?

Thanks, Mike

[Ray Replies]

Dear Mike:

The Bible is complete as we have it. There are any number of books that are not in the canon as it is preserved today, that undoubtedly contain truths. The fact that they are not all in the Bible as we know it today does not mean that the Bible is not complete. Jude speaks of the prophesies of Enoch, yet we do not have these prophesies in our Bibles today (Jude 14).  If I were you, I wouldn't worry about "The Lost Books of Eden" and such things. Study the Bible that you do have.

God be with you,

Ray

Have A Healthy Day,

It is an interesting book.   It is a good source for genealogy, the main reason I read it.

The "Book of Jasher" in it's original form, was lost to the ancient Hebrews. There are many historians that believe that it was no longer in exsistance even in the days of Christ.

The "Book of Jasher" that's around today was supposedly recreated in the 11th century C.E.
