PayPal Donations
« on: January 11, 2007, 12:43:03 PM »

In another thread "Change of Donation Address" there is discussions about supporting bible-truths.com using PayPal. And I noticed some here recently signed up at PayPal just to donate.

I've used PayPal for many years for my personal purchasing on EBay, Amazon and other sites and never had any problems.

But I want everyone who uses PayPal to be aware that there are email scams designed to steal from your PayPal account.

To stay safe, never click on a link in an email to go to your PayPal account (or EBay, Amazon, etc.). 99% of the time these links are false. They will take you to a page that looks official but the only purpose is to get your personal information.

If you need to go to PayPal just open your browser (Internet Explorer) and type in "paypal.com"  This way you'll know for sure you are on the actual PayPal site.

Just a heads up.

Dennis,

What about if you are already in paypal, and it says to return to e-bay?  Is it okay to click on the link then?  Thanks for the heads up.  I am a heavy user of ebay and paypal and cannot afford to have any funds taken from me.

  Sincerely,

Yes, Anne, you can trust the links from PayPal to ebay. However, pay attention to the address bar in your browser whenever you visit a website. Some designers of scams design websites that look like the real thing, like Dennis explained. If you see that the domain name is not the real domain name, then you know it's something fishy going on. The new Opera web browser has a built-in "anti-phishing" filter that might help.

I take this opportunity to ask you what these words in your signature mean:

Et in Terra Pax, Eternum perficio
Je Sus Prest

Shouldn't it be, "Et in Terra pax, bonae voluntatis"? What does perficio mean? And what about Je Sus Prest? I can see the words "Jesus" and "priest" there, but then again... I don't know the real meaning.

Eggi,

  Thanks for the helpful stuff.

Okay here goes.  Yes it should be the Latin phrase that you listed.  I wanted to be the nonconformist that I am and so I cut the phrase off and added another one that meant a lot to me.

"Eternum perficio" - is a song that Enya did.  It is written in a minor key and spoke so much to me.  Perfect Eternity.  Je Sus Prest - is Latin for "I am Ready."  It is the Fraser family motto.  I got that from the Diana Galbadon books that I read.  I have adopted Je Sus Prest for my motto.  I think it is supposed to be Je su Prest, but I am not sure.  I will have to get back on that one and correct my signature I find out that is wrong.

For a moment I thought you were going to ask about my user name.  Whew.

  Sincerely,

Hehe,

OK, what's the deal with your username... ???
I get it now. It's French and it's "Je suis prest" no? I'm trying to find a clip from the song now. I like Enya too, but I haven't heard that song you mention.

Eggi,

Sorry the song was Cursum Perficio by Enya.

My user name the letters stand for something.  My legal name that I am changint to once we get the money is Rhiannon "RhiAnne" "Anne" Michaela Moynihan-Flippin.  Christ is the King.  Texas Tech University Rules.  Je Sus Prest.

I'll get back to you on that Je Sus Prest.  I do not think it was French in the books.  It was written in Latin, but then again I could be wrong.  Thanks for calling this to my attention.

  Sincerely,

Bradigans,

Hi.  To open a paypal account you need to do the following.

  1.  Log on to www.paypal.com
  2.  Click on register or new account.
  3.  Follow the promptings.
  4.  After you are reigstered, click on add credit card or add bank.
  5.  Follow instructions.
  6.  And then you have a great account to work with.

It does not cost you anything and there is no processing fee for paypal.
  I hope this helps.

  Sincerely,
